Perform maintenance activity on Druva Servers

 

This article applies to the following servers of inSync private cloud:

  • Edge Server
  • inSync Master server
  • Storage Node Server

Overview

Druva Servers may require maintenance such as the installation of security patches or hardware changes, which require rebooting the servers. It is therefore important that you follow a specific process that ensures consistency of the underlying storage before and after the server reboot. This article provides the steps that ensure inSync storage remains healthy after the servers are back online.

Actions to perform when you power down and power up the Druva Servers  

Prerequisites

You must have administrator privileges on the inSync servers where the inSync components are installed.

Actions to perform before you power down the inSync Servers

On the Edge Server:

  1. Stop and disable the Druva inSync Edge Server services.
  2. Open the Task Manager and kill any inSync process if running.

On the Storage Node Server:

  1. Stop and disable the Druva inSync Storage Node Service.
  2. Open the Task Manager and kill any inSync process if running.

On the inSync Master Server:

  1. Stop and disable the following three services in the order mentioned below:
    1. Druva inSync Master Config Server 
    2. Druva inSync Master Sync Server 
    3. Druva inSync Master Control Panel
  2. Open the Task Manager and kill any inSync process if running.

After completing the relevant steps, you can power down the Druva Servers.

Action to perform after you power up the inSync Servers

On the Edge Server:

  1. Enable and start the Druva inSync EdgeServer services.
  2. Open the Task Manager and check whether inSync process is running.

On the Storage Node Server:

  1. Enable and start the Druva inSync Storage Node Service.
  2. Open the Task Manager and check whether inSync process is running.

On the inSync Master Server:

  1.  Enable and start the service for Druva inSync Master Config Server .
  2. Open the Task Manager and wait for the inSyncAuthDBservice.exe to start.
  3. Enable and start the following services in the order given below:
    1. Druva inSync Master Sync Server
    2. Druva inSync Master Control Panel
