Enhancement

Simplified onboarding for Microsoft 365

To improve customer experience, we have reduced and simplified the steps required to configure Microsoft 365 apps for data protection. The new configuration wizard enables you to protect your Microsoft 365 data seamlessly right from tenant authorization to backup configuration.

The new wizard has the following settings configured by default.

  • KMS is enabled
  • Azure AD user deployment method is selected
  • SaaS Apps is enabled in the default profile

Additionally, it offers you the flexibility to change these settings later.

New Feature

eDiscovery: New eDiscovery Download Client v2.0.0 for inSync Cloud 

The new version includes a more enhanced way of registering clients called token-based registration. This method uses tokens, which are unique, randomly generated strings of characters, to authenticate clients and verify that the requests are coming from a legitimate eDiscovery Download Client. 

You can now download and install the latest v2.0.0 eDiscovery Download Client version for Windows and macOS from the Downloads page.

Customer action required:

  • New client registrations will now have to provide tokens as input instead of client ID and secret ID

  • Existing clients, if in a disconnected state, will now require tokens as inputs to re-register

  • It is recommended that you whitelist the following global URL for the public cloud to establish a connection between the client and server: https://globalapis.druva.com.

Federated Search and Sensitive Data Governance: Data Lock support for files and emails snapshots

Data Lock enables you to protect your data from accidental or malicious deletions. If Data Lock is enabled, you cannot delete files and emails from the snapshots. In such a scenario, an administrator can delete the data only from the data sources such as Devices, Exchange Online, and Gmail from where it is backed up.

Deprecation of Percentage-based Selection in Data Template

In the Data Copy Template, the Percentage-based Selection tab for selecting records as a sample percentage of the data is deprecated in the Salesforce 2.0 App. Also, you cannot select Percentage Selection from the Items to Clone list when you clone a Data Copy template.

Enhanced graphical representation for Salesforce storage summary

The storage summary now represents the Salesforce Storage and Druva Cloud Storage as a bar graph instead of a pie chart. As a result, you get an improved representation of the cost-saving and storage information for Data Archiver.

Define archival content query using Query Builder or SOQL Editor

While creating a new archival set in the Data Archiver, you can now define the archival content query for objects using one of the following options instead of the Basic or Advanced options.

  • Query Builder - Use Query Builder to create a SOQL query from the user interface.
  • SOQL Editor - Use SOQL (Salesforce Object Query Language) Editor to type the required query or copy the query from Query Builder.

Enhancement

Sensitive Data Governance: Support for Google Workspace MIME types for compliance violations

 For existing customers, Druva has triggered re-scans of the latest backup, and findings should be visible for same once completed.

We have added support for additional  MIME types specific to Google Workspace. When a compliance scan occurs, file extensions (and their MIME types) from the supported list are scanned based on specific sensitive data pattern criteria, and violations are flagged and reported as compliance violations.

The following Google Workspace native files' MIME types are now supported by inSync to report compliance violations:

  • application/vnd.google-apps.document

  • application/vnd.google-apps.presentation

  • application/vnd.google-apps.spreadsheet

New Feature

Prevent malicious or accidental deletion of snapshots using Data Lock

You can enable the Data Lock feature to make users, SaaS Apps, and snapshots immutable till their retention period. Enabling the Data Lock feature prevents malicious modification, accidental deletion, or tampering with critical data by rogue administrators and anyone with compromised credentials.

The Data Lock feature is available on both Enterprise and Elite editions.

Seamless access to the SharePoint Online sites

The SharePoint Online listing page now loads 100 sites at a time based on selected sorting and filters. You must scroll to view the following 100 sites. This enhancement ensures faster and seamless access to the SharePoint Online sites on the listing page, especially when you have many sites.

Note: The delete, enable, and disable operations apply only to the sites loaded on the page.

Salesforce

Flexibility to configure API limit

You can now set the API consumption limit for each backup definition in the API Limit tab to ensure a backup job consumes only the specified APIs. With this capability, you can control your API consumption while reducing the overhead and cost of increasing the API limit.

Note: This capability is provided as a part of the Salesforce Enterprise and Elite editions.

eDiscovery: A new version of eDiscovery Download Client for inSync Cloud

You can now download and install the latest v1.2.2 eDiscovery Download Client version for Windows and macOS from the Downloads page. This client version includes minor enhancements and security fixes.

Issue Description
INS-63558 Exchange Online: Fixed an issue wherein the PST download times out with the ‘Failed scanning directory. Async exception’ error.
INS-71335 Exchange Online: Fixed an issue for backup with errors by updating the provided UPN values in the database.

Enhanced Microsoft 365 user import with Azure AD Mapping

User import with Azure AD is enhanced with the following capabilities:

  • Deploy users using Azure AD Groups to leverage custom Azure AD mappings You can now configure Azure AD Groups as a method to import users in inSync. With this enhancement, the user onboarding is simplified, wherein you can effectively import different categories of users per your business requirements and manage their backup configurations, such as profile and storage, efficiently.

  • On-demand syncing of users deployed using Azure AD 
    With the newly introduced Sync Now option, you can sync users in Azure AD with users in inSync to ensure that at any point in time all the users to be protected are in inSync.

  • Enriched information and enhanced filters for viewing the Azure AD Mappings

    The Azure AD Mapping Listing page is enhanced with the following capabilities:

The SCIM Mapping Listing page is enhanced with the following capabilities:

Protect Exchange Online Item and Reference attachments

  • Reference attachments such as file location on the cloud.

You can now clone the data masking configurations from an existing data template.

Mandated configuration of inSync AD/LDAP connector or KMS before creating an administrator

To ensure that your data is always encrypted and secure, it is now mandatory to configure inSync AD/LDAP connector or Cloud Key Management (KMS) before you can create the first administrator.

Flexibility to update the backup start date/time before a backup job is run for the first time

Administrators can now update the start date/time in the backup definition if a backup job hasn’t run yet. With this enhancement, you get more flexibility to manage your backup schedules.

With Salesforce Data Archiver, you can move stale data from Salesforce active storage into Druva storage.

  • Simplify long term archival policies for governance and regulatory purposes

Microsoft 365

Introducing Microsoft 365 Basic app with limited permissions

Microsoft 365 Basic app is now available for protecting Exchange Online, OneDrive, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, and Public Folders. This app does not seek the Directory.ReadWrite.All permission, helps administrators comply with organizational security and compliance policies and meet the organizational goal for data protection.

Issue Description
INS-47776 SharePoint Online: Fixed an issue wherein the administrator had to manually disable ‘Deny Add And Customize Pages’ to restore site pages for a site. Restore activities now automatically manage this setting to restore the site pages.

INS-62487 SharePoint Online: Fixed an issue wherein rendering the list of documents in Document Library containing more than 5k files takes longer than usual during a site restore. Now only 3k documents are listed in Document Library.
INS-19336 Exchange Online: Fixed an issue wherein the administrators, with only SSO login mechanism, are unable to download the Exchange Online data as a PST.

Protect shared mailbox users in Preserved state 

You can now protect shared mailbox users in the preserved state regardless of the Shared Mailbox user's Azure AD sign-in status.

With this enhancement, you can protect the data of the preserved shared mailbox users in case of accidental deletions or ransomware attacks.

You can now protect Groups metadata and Group sites.

How does this new feature benefit you:

You can now identify and monitor the license consumption for Microsoft 365 Shared/Resource mailbox users from the Microsoft 365 Overview page. 

With clear segregation of Users, Shared, and Resource mailboxes on the Overview page, you now get granular insights into users' license utilization for effective user management.

Microsoft 365

Configure retention period for Teams metadata and conversation backups 
The data backup retention period for Teams metadata and conversation backups is now configurable. Moving forward, you can decide how to retain your backups with more flexibility and effectively manage your recovery point objectives. With this enhancement, you can meet your compliance requirements effectively by ensuring that only the required backups are retained while others expire.

Note: Your existing forever retention setting will be retained till you don't configure them.

Data Governance

 This enhancement is applicable only for the SaaS Apps that already have the Sensitive Data Governance feature supported and enabled.

Sensitive Data Governance: Change to Violation Preview text download 

If the preview text for file violations is more than 64 KB in size, you have to download the file to view complete details.

Issue Description
INS-13548 SharePoint Online: Fixed an issue wherein the restore status is displayed as Restore Successful on the administrator console for a failed restore task.
INS-43923 Exchange Online: Fixed an issue wherein the downloaded PST file does not contain any data when searching in the restore tab.
INS-46670 Fixed an issue with user mapping causing inconsistency in the import workflow.
