Overview

Is your organization migrating the on-premise Public folder to Cloud along with Microsoft 365 migration?

Required roles and permissions for access to Public folderEdit section

inSync requires the following permissions to access and protect Public folder data:

  • Reviewer

  • Owner

A service account used to configure inSync Management Console must have a valid mailbox.

Provide permissions to root and sub-folders

  1. Download the permission script from here.

  2. Navigate to the Exchange Online Powershell.

  3. Connect to the Exchange Online Admin Center.

  4. Navigate to the folder containing the permission script file.

  5. Execute the following command.

.\Update-PublicFolderPermissions.ps1 -IncludeFolders \ -Users <druva-service-account-upn> -Recurse -AccessRights "Owner" -SkipCurrentAccessCheck 

Administrator with one of the following roles can configure inSync to protect Office 365 data:

  • Druva Cloud Administrator

  • inSync Cloud administrator

  • Any administrator with role and privileges to manage SaaS Apps

Use cases 

As a inSync Cloud administrator,

  • You can protect your Public folder data using a single pane of glass.

  • You can discover all Public folder, Mails and Posts, Contact, Calendar within the Public folder and protect them.

Let’s assume, you are an admin of ABC organization and want to protect the Public folder ABC data (Mails and Posts, Contacts, Calendars, and so on) for the users within your organization.
