Configure inSync CloudCache Server

To ensure proper functioning and sync operations for the inSync CloudCache Server, you must configure the schedule and resources, such as the sync schedule, data folder, data folder size, and maximum bandwidth for upload and download.

Before you begin

Before you begin, ensure that you add, install, and register inSync CloudCache Server.

Procedure

To configure the inSync CloudCache Server schedule and resources

  1. Log on to the inSync Management Console
  2. Click settingwheel1.jpg CloudCache Servers
  3. Click the Configure Now link for the inSync CloudCache Server that you want to configure. The Configure CloudCache Server wizard appears. 
  4. On the Summary page of the wizard, provide the appropriate information for each field:
  • In the Data folder box, type the path where you want to save the data on the inSync CloudCache Server or click the folder icon to select the location.
    Note:
    • Druva recommends that you use Direct Attached Storage (DAS) for configuring inSync CloudCache Server. If you want to use other types of storages, contact Support.
    • Type a local path on your computer or where the inSync CloudCache Server is installed.
    • Do not specify a network path in the Data folder box.
  • In the Size box, type the data size that this volume can accommodate, and then click the unit in the adjacent list (GB or TB). 
  1. Click Next. The Cloud Sync Schedule & Resources page of the wizard appears. 
  2. Provide the appropriate information for each field.
    Field Action
    Country Click the country where this inSync CloudCache Server is located.
    Server timezone By default, the time zone for the country that you selected appears. If you want to change the time zone for this inSync CloudCache Server, click the appropriate time zone.
    Weekdays [Mon - Fri]

    Click the start time and end time during which you want inSync CloudCache Server to sync data to the cloud storage from Monday to Friday. For more information on sync schedules and scenarios, see Know about sync schedules and scenarios.

    Weekends [Sat - Sun]

    Click the start time and end time during which you want inSync CloudCache Server to sync data to the cloud storage on Saturday and Sunday. For more information on sync schedules and scenarious, see Know about sync schedules and scenarios.

    Max. bandwidth for upload Type the maximum network bandwidth for the sync operations from inSync CloudCache Server to the cloud storage, and then click the speed unit in the adjacent list. If you do not want to set any restriction on the bandwidth consumption, click Unlimited in the speed unit list.
    Max. bandwidth for download Type the maximum network bandwidth for the sync operations from the cloud storage to inSync CloudCache Server, and then click the speed unit in the adjacent list. If you do not want to set any restriction on the bandwidth consumption, click Unlimited in the speed unit list.
  3. Click Finish.

Sync schedules and scenarios

While you configure the inSync CloudCache Server, you can schedule sync operations from inSync CloudCache Server to inSync Cloud during off-peak hours. This allows you to optimize your WAN bandwidth consumption. 

Note:  inSync CloudCache Server schedule defines the start time of sync operations. Sync operation starts just once daily, as per the  defined schedule.

If you add a new device and the inSync CloudCache Server sync operation has already begun as per the schedule, you must wait until the sync operation start time the next day. If you need to start a inSync CloudCache Server sync operation immediately, you must change the inSync CloudCache Server schedule to the next hour. The following table lists various scenarios for sync operations on weekdays.
Weekday Sync Schedule Scenario (Monday to Friday) Sync Operation Details
If you set the start time as 9:00 P.M. and the end time as 2:00 A.M

inSync CloudCache Server starts the sync operation at 9:00 P.M. on Monday and stops the sync operation when the sync operation is complete or at 2:00 A.M. on Tuesday, whichever is earlier. inSync CloudCache Server then starts the next sync operation at 9:00 P.M. on Tuesday and follows the cycle until Friday. On Friday, inSync starts the sync operation at 9:00 P.M. and stops the sync operation at 2:00 A.M. on Saturday.

Note: The sync operation is triggered only once during each sync cycle.

After the Friday sync schedule, inSync CloudCache Server then follows the weekend schedule for the start and end time of the sync operations for Saturday and Sunday.

If you set the start time as 12:00 A.M. 

and the end time as 12:00 A.M.

inSync CloudCache Server starts the sync operation at midnight. After the sync operation is complete, the next sync operation is triggered on the next day, at midnight. 

Note: The sync operation is triggered only once during each sync cycle.
The following table lists various scenarios for sync operations on weekends.

If you set the start time as 9:00 P.M. and the end time as 2:00 A.M

inSync CloudCache Server starts the sync operation at 9:00 P.M. on Saturday and stops the sync operation at 2:00 A.M. on Sunday. inSync CloudCache Server then starts the next sync operation at 9:00 P.M. on Sunday and stops the sync operation at 2:00 A.M. on Monday.

Note: The sync operation is triggered only once during each sync cycle.

After the Sunday sync schedule, inSync CloudCache Server then follows the weekday schedule for the start and end time of the sync operations from Monday onwards.  

If you set the start time as 12:00 A.M. 

and the end time as 12:00 A.M.

If you set the start time as 12:00 A.M. and the end time as 12:00 A.M., inSync CloudCache Server starts the sync operation on Saturday, at midnight. After the sync operation is complete, the next sync operation is triggered on Sunday, at midnight.

Note:The sync operation is triggered only once during each sync cycle.
