Create and manage AppConnect container policies

Overview

You must create and configure the AppConnect container policy to protect data on the inSync for MobileIron app. With the AppConnect container policy, you can allow or restrict inSync users from sending print requests from their iOS devices, from performing a copy-and-paste operation from files within the inSync for MobileIron app to any other application, and from opening files by using other applications.

Create an AppConnnect container policy

To create an AppConnect container policy

  1. On the Mobile Iron ADMIN PORTAL primary navigation bar, click POLICIES & CONFIGS.
  2. On the Mobile Iron ADMIN PORTAL secondary navigation bar, click Configurations.
  3. In the Add New list, click AppConnect > Container Policy. The New AppConnect Container Policy window appears.
  4. Provide the appropriate information for each field.
    Field Action
    Name

    Type the name for this AppConnect container policy.

    Description Type a short description for this AppConnect container policy.
    Application Type the bundle ID for the inSync for MobileIron app. For example, com.druva.insynciosmi.
    Data Loss Prevention Policies for iOS
    1. If you want to allow users to print their documents, select the Allow check box.
    2. If you want to provide users text editing capabilities such as copy and paste, select the Copy/Paste To check box.
    3. If you want to allow users to open files by using other apps, select the Open In check box. Additional fields appear.
      • If you want to allow users to open files by using any app installed on their mobile device, select All Apps.
      • If you want to allow users to open files by using only AppConnect apps, select AppConnect apps.
      • If you want to create a specific list of apps that users can use to open files, select Whitelist. A box appears.
        In the box, type the bundle ID of the apps in which you want to allow users to open their files. To enable the Share via email option, whitelist Apple Mail by adding the following bundle ID: com.apple.mobilemail
  5. Click Save. The New AppConnect Container Policy window appears.
  6. Click OK.

Update an AppConnect container policy

To update an AppConnect container policy

  1. On the MobileIron ADMIN PORTAL primary navigation bar, click POLICIES & CONFIGS.
  2. On the MobileIron ADMIN PORTAL secondary navigation bar, click Configurations.
  3. Select the check box for a policy for which you want to update the container settings. The App Settings Details for that policy appears on the left pane.
  4. On the left pane, click Edit. The Modify AppConnect Container Policy window appears.
  5. After you make the required changes, click Save. The Modify AppConnect Container Policy window appears.
  6. Click OK.

Delete an AppConnect container policy

To delete an AppConnect container policy

  1. On the MobileIron ADMIN PORTAL primary navigation bar, click POLICIES & CONFIGS.
  2. On the MobileIron ADMIN PORTAL secondary navigation bar, click Configurations.
  3. Select the check box for a policy that you want to delete.
  4. Click Delete. The App Settings Deletion window appears.
  5. Click Yes. The Deleting App Setting window appears.
  6. Click OK.
