Web browser support

Which web browsers does the inSync Master Management Console for inSync Cloud support?

The inSync Master Management Console for inSync Cloud works with the following web browsers:

  • Internet Explorer 8, 9, 10, 11
  • Mozilla Firefox 30
  • Google Chrome 35
  • Microsoft Edge

Login and authentication

Will I be logged out of inSync Admin Console because of inactivity?

Yes. inSync Admin Console logs you out if you are inactive for 30 minutes.

How are inSync users authenticated?

inSync users are authenticated in the following two ways:

  • They can use the password assigned to them by inSync.
  • They can use their Active Directory user ID and password.
  • They can use Single Sign-On credentials to log in to inSync.

I have forgotten my password for inSync Cloud. What should I do?

If you have forgotten your inSync Administrator password for your Cloud instance, you can get in touch with another inSync Administrator as they can reset the password for you. To reset the password, follow the steps given below:

  • Log in to inSync Cloud.
  • Click on the Settings icon and select Administrator.
  • Select the Administrator for which you wish to reset the password.
  • Choose Reset Password.

We have multiple inSync Administrators and their passwords for inSync cloud is lost. Is there any way Druva can reset the passwords for our inSync Administrators?

No. Druva inSync Cloud is designed in a way where security comes first. Only you have access to your inSync Cloud instance. No one else, not even Druva, can access your cloud instance. In case all the inSync Administrator lose their passwords, the only way to move forward will be to discard the current instance of your inSync cloud and re-create a new instance. This process will result in the loss of complete data.

Are unsuccessful login attempts logged?

No. inSync does not log unsuccessful login attempts.

Two users log on to the same laptop. Can one user access the inSync data of the other?

No. No user can access backed up data of another user. The backed up data can only be accessed by the owner of that data or by the inSync administrator.

What are the different ways in which I can add users to my inSync setup?

There are three different ways in which you can add users to your inSync setup:

Is there an expiration date for the mass deployment token?

Yes. There is an expiration date for the mass deployment token. This date is not automatically set by the inSync Master. You must set this date while generating the mass deployment token. For more information, see Generating a mass deployment token.

Can I hide the inSync client shortcut during integrated mass deployment?

Yes. You can use the HEADLESS parameter in the following command to hide the inSync client short cut during integrated mass deployment:

msiexec /qn /i <path to inSync msi> TOKENV2='<mass deployment token>' SERVERLIST="<IP address of inSync Server>:<Backup/sync port>" HEADLESS="1"

Data backup and restore

When is user data encrypted?

inSync encrypts user data at the following stages:

  • inSync encrypts data in the backup folders if administrators have enabled encryption for the profile in use. For more information on how you can enable encryption for backup folders, see Enable data encryption.
  • inSync encrypts data in transit with 256-bit SSL encryption.
  • inSync secures data on storage with 256-bit AES encryption.

I have disabled certain devices. Can backed up or shared data be accessed through them?

No. The users cannot access their backed up or shared data if their devices have been disabled.

I have disabled some inSync users. Can they access their backup or share data?

No. The disabled users cannot access their restore points or share data. Only inSync administrator can access backed up and shared data of the disabled users.

Multiple users have their accounts on the same laptop. Can inSync client back up data for all users of that laptop?

No. A single inSync client cannot backup data for all users of that laptop. In this case, inSync client must be activated for each user account on that laptop.
