About the inSync mobile app

Supported inSync mobile app versions:3.5 or later

The inSync mobile app allows you access to your backup and share data from your mobile device anytime, anywhere. The inSync mobile app also gives you complete security, control, and visibility of your data.

The following table lists the advantages of using the inSync mobile app.

  • Allows you to back up corporate data on the iOS devices.
  • Allows you to access and restore older versions of your backed up content.
  • Allows you to self-restore device data.
Data protection
  • Allows your inSync administrator to remotely wipe corporate data if your mobile device is lost or stolen.
  • Allows your inSync administrator to track your device.
Easy file sharing
  • Allows you to securely share files with other users.
  • Allows you to stay informed about all activities, with real-time notifications.
Note: You must have an inSync account to use the inSync mobile app. If you do not have an inSync account, contact your inSync administrator.

inSync mobile app features and their availability

If your inSync administrator enabled certain features for you, when you log on to the inSync mobile app for the first time, you must perform additional configuration steps before using the inSync mobile app.
The following table lists these features and the additional steps that you must perform on your mobile devices after you log on to the inSync mobile app.

PIN or Passcode When you log on to the inSync mobile app, the Set Passcode window appears. Perform the following steps:
  1. Type the new passcode.
  2. Type the new passcode again.
Backup Services

When you log on to the inSync mobile app, the Enable Backup window appears. Perform the following step:

  • Tap ENABLE.
Data Protection Services When you log on to the inSync mobile app, the Device Management Profile window appears. Perform the following step:
  • Tap Install.
Device Trace

When you log on to the inSync mobile app, the Enable Location window appears. Perform the following step:

  • Tap ENABLE.

Ports used by inSync mobile app

To ensure even greater security and firewall management, inSync now directs all communication traffic through a single port (SSL/443) for Backup, Restore, Sync, and Share. This reduces the number of required firewall ports for deployment.
You can also continue to use port 80, if you prefer to use your earlier port configuration. If you are using port 6061 to send requests to inSync Server, then inSync mobile app communicates with inSync storage node via port 6071.
