Create and share a link

Supported inSync mobile app versions:3.5 or later

If your inSync administrator enabled password protection for your shared links, on the inSync app mobile, when you share a link, the Get Link option appears. This option allows you to update the default share settings that your inSync administrator defines. The following table lists the fields that appear in the Share Link window.

Field Description
Expire link in

The number of days that you want the link to remain available. The default value is 7.

Maximum allowed views The number of days that you want the link remain viewable. The default value is 10.
Allow Downloads Indicates that the shared link is downloadable. By default, this is enabled.
Required Password Enabled

Indicates that the shared link is password-protected. You cannot disable this option.

Email in

Allows you to send the shared link in an email. The inSync mobile app sends the password in a separate email.

Copy link to Clipboard Allows you to share your link by any other mode such as messages, chats.
Note: If your inSync administrator did not enable password protection for your shared links, on the inSync mobile app, when you share a link, only the Email link and Copy Link to Clipboard options appear. The share settings that your inSync administrator defined is also applicable to the share settings on the inSync mobile app.

Share a password-protected link

To share a password-protected link

  1. On the inSync mobile app sidebar, in the SHARE DATA area, tap All Content or Shared Content.
  2. Browse to the location where the file that you want to share is located.
  3. Tapmenu_more_options.png next to the file that you want to share. A list with additional options appears.
  4. In the list, tap Get Link. The Share Link window appears.
  5. In the Expire link in box, type the number of days you want the link to remain available. The default value is 7.
  6. In the Maximum allowed views box, type the number of days you want the link remain viewable. The default value is 10.
  7. If you want people to download your file, turn on Allow Downloads.
    If you do not want people to download your file, turn off Allow Downloads.
  8. Perform the following action:
    If you want to Do this
    Send the share link through email 
    • Tap Email Link.... The default email client that is configured on your device appears.
    • In the draft email, type the email addresses of the people with whom you want to share this link, and then tap Send.
    Share your link by using a mode other than email 
    • Tap Copy Link to Clipboard. A confirmation message appears.
    • Tap OK.

Share a link

  1. On the inSync mobile app sidebar, in the SHARE DATA area, tap All Content or Shared Content.
  2. Browse to the location where the file that you want to share is located.
  3. Tapmenu_more_options.png next to the file.
  4. Perform the following action:
    If you want to Do this
    Send the share link through email 
    • In the list, tap Share. The Share window appears.
    • In the list, tap the email client that is configured on your device.
    • In the draft email, type the email addresses of the people with whom you want to share this link, and then tap Send.
    Share your link by using a mode other than email 
    • In the list, tap Get Link. The Share Link window appears.
    • Tap the mode with which you want to share your link.
