Overview 

This topic describes the fields and actions on the Disaster Recovery Plan Details page. The Disaster Recovery Plan Details page provides information about the details of a DR plan configured for virtual machines in your Phoenix environment.

Access Path 

  1. On the Phoenix Management Console menu bar, click Manage Disaster Recovery.
    The Manage Disaster Recovery page displays a list of configured DR plans.
  2. Click the DR plan for which you want to view details.

The Disaster Recovery Plan Details page consists of the following three tabs:

Summary tab

The Summary tab provides details of your DR plan, such as the name of the DR plan, plan description, AWS account, AWS region, virtual machines associated with the DR plan, AMI update schedule, and so on. It also provides the failover setting details, such as VPC name, subnet, and security group for your Failover Recovery or Failover Test setups. It also lists the failovers that occurred recently for the virtual machines and the type of failover triggered for these virtual machines.

The following table lists the fields on the Summary tab.

Description

Description

The description of the DR plan.

AMI Update Frequency

The frequency for the AMI update operation that restored virtual machines on AWS Cloud, such as Immediately after backupDaily, or Weekly.

AWS Account

The account that maintains the AMI for the virtual machines.

Region

The storage region where you want to create AMIs for your virtual machines.

# Associated VMs

The number of virtual machines associated with the DR plan.

VPC

The section of the AWS Cloud dedicated to your AWS account. You can launch the AWS resources, such as EC2 instances, in your virtual network.

Subnet

The segment of the IP address range of a VPC to which you can attach the EC2 instances. A subnet groups the instances according to the security and operational needs.

Security Group

A set of inbound and outbound network connections for the EC2 instance. A security group comprises a list of protocols, ports, and IP address ranges.

Recent Failovers

The timestamp and the type of the failovers that occurred lately for the virtual machines associated with the DR plan.

Actions

The following table lists the actions on the Summary tab.

Action Description

Failover

Click Failover to launch failover of your configured virtual machine. For more information, see Launch Disaster Recovery Failover.

Edit

Click Edit to update details the DR plan. For more information, see Edit Disaster Recovery plan.

Delete

Click Delete to delete the DR plan. For more information, see Delete Disaster Recovery plan.

VMs tab

The VMs tab lists the details of the configured virtual machines that you can add to your DR plan.

Field Description

The following table lists the fields on the VMs tab.

Field/Action

Description

Virtual Machine

The name of the virtual machine for which the failover is requested.

vCenter/Hypervisor

The vCenter or ESXi host registered with the virtual machines.

Server Group

The server group associated with the virtual machine.

Configuration Status

The status of the configuration of the virtual machine, such as Configured and VM is not valid to create AMI.

Instance Type

The copy of the Amazon Machine Image (AMI) that runs as a virtual server in the AWS Cloud.

Public IP

The public IP address assigned to the virtual machine. The following are the possible values of the Public IP field:

  • None
  • Elastic
  • Auto-Assign

By default, the public IP is assigned to ‘None’. For more information about the public IP options, see Public IP.

Private IP

The private IP address assigned to the virtual machine. The following are the possible values of the Private IP field:

  • None
  • Auto-Assign
  • Static

By default, the private IP is assigned to ‘Auto-Assign’. For more information about the private IP options, see Private IP.

Actions

The following table lists the actions on the VMs tab.

Action

Description

Add More VMs

Click Add More VMs to associate virtual machines with the DR plan. For more information, see Add virtual machines to existing DR plan.

VM Failover Settings

Click VM Failover Settings to add failover settings, such as the instance type, Public IP, and Private IP details for virtual machines. For more information about the failover settings, see Add failover settings for DR plan.

Disable DR

Click Disable DR to disable the Disaster Recovery service for a virtual machine associated with a DR plan at any time. For more information, see Enable DR on a virtual machine.

Enable DR

Click Enable DR to enable the Disaster Recovery service for a virtual machine associated with a DR plan at any time. For more information, see Disable DR on a virtual machine.

Update AMI Now

Click Update AMI Now to manually update an AMI for a virtual machine. For more information, see On demand AMI update.

Remove VM

Click Remove VM to delete the selected virtual machine. For more information, see Unconfigure virtual machine for Disaster Recovery.

Failover History tab

The Failover History tab provides details of the failed over virtual machines.

Field Description

The following table lists the fields on the Failover History tab.

Field/Action

Description

Virtual Machine

The name of the virtual machine that you want to associate with the DR plan for disaster recovery.

vCenter/Hypervisor

The vCenter Server or the ESXi that hosts your virtual machine.

Server Group

The server group associated with the virtual machine.

Failover Initiated on

The date and timestamp when the failover was triggered.

AMI Name

The AMI copy used during the failover to launch EC2 instance.

EC2 Instance ID

The unique identification number of the EC2 instance launched during failover.

Failover Status

The status of the launched EC2 instance. The following are the possible statuses of the EC2 instance:

  • Requested - A request to launch an EC2 instance is triggered.
  • Initializing EC2 instance -  A request has sent, and the instance launch is initialized.
  • Complete - The launch of the EC2 instance is completed.
  • Request failed - The launch of the EC2 instance has failed.

Public IP

The public IP address assigned to the virtual machine. The following are the possible values of the Public IP field:

  • None
  • Elastic
  • Auto-Assign

By default, the public IP is assigned to ‘None’. For more information about the public IP options, see Public IP.

Private IP

The private IP address assigned to the virtual machine. The following are the possible values of the Private IP field:

  • None
  • Auto-Assign
  • Static

By default, the private IP is assigned to ‘Auto-Assign’. For more information about the private IP options, see Private IP.

Actions

The following table lists the actions on the Failover History tab.

Action Description
vCenter/Hypervisor Select an option from this filter to list virtual machines based on the selected vCenter Server or Hypervisor host. 
Server Group Select an option from this filter to list virtual machines based on the selected server group. 
Clear Click Clear to reset the vCenter/Hypervisor and Server Group filters.
