Enable or disable DR on a virtual machine

Enable Disaster Recovery on a virtual machine

 You can enable the disaster recovery service for a virtual machine associated with a DR plan.

Procedure

  1. Log on to Phoenix Management Console.
  2. On the menu bar, click All Organizations, and select the required organization from the drop-down list.
  3. On the menu bar, click Manage Disaster Recovery
    The Manage Disaster Recovery page opens with the DR Plan tab opened, by default. The DR Plans tab lists the available DR plans.
  4. Click the DR plan associated with your virtual machine.
    The DR plan details page opens.
  5. Under the VMs tab, click the virtual machine for which you want to enable the DR service, and click Enable DR.

Disable Disaster Recovery on a virtual machine

You can disable the disaster recovery service for a virtual machine associated with a DR plan at any time. After disabling, new AMIs will not be created for the virtual machines. However, you can failover the virtual machine using the last AMI created before the DR was disabled. The AMI updates will resume only after you enable the service on the virtual machine. 

Procedure

  1. Log on to Phoenix Management Console.

  3. On the menu bar, click Manage Disaster Recovery

  4. Click the DR plan associated with your virtual machine.
    The DR plan details page opens.
  5. Under the VMs tab, click the virtual machine for which you want to disable the DR service and click Disable DR.
