Customize table columns for intuitive user experience

You can customize the table layout and choose to display the required information for all the Hyper-V, MS SQL, Oracle PBS, and Oracle DTC pages. In the following example, we will use the Customize Table Columns option on the All Jobs page for Hyper-V. You can make the following changes:

Load more files and folders during a File Server restore workflow

Druva now provides the Load More option to display additional content in a particular folder during a restore. The Load More option is visible to load the next set of results in case of a large directory structure and enables you to restore a specific file and folder. Alert notifications for skipped backup jobs

Druva now sends a Warning alert with details of the backup jobs that are skipped from execution. A backup job is skipped from execution if the client is busy processing other jobs.  With this release, alert notifications are sent for backup jobs for the VMware and File Server workloads. This feature will be supported for the other workloads in the following release.

Support for virtual machines on Azure VMware Solution

Druva can now back up and restore virtual machines created and managed on Azure VMware Solution (AVS), a dedicated cloud infrastructure in Azure. Therefore, you can back up from any VMware cloud or on-premise setup to any other VMware setup like a true SaaS. For more information, see Druva and Azure VMware Solution.

Advanced Smart Scan support for SMB

Incremental backup performance is significantly improved with Advanced Smart Scan, which reduces network round trips and API call latencies. This reduces the overall time consumed during a scan, thereby decreasing the incremental backup job's time. For more information, see Creating a backup policy and NAS Scanning methods.

New Feature

Restore a SQL Server database to the original location (with Replace)

Use the Restore To Original Instance API to perform a restore for the given SQL server databases to the original location (with Replace). The following APIs provide additional information to the Restore To Original Instance API.

• The List all snapshots API provides all the snapshots for the specified backup set.
• The Get Backupset Details API returns the complete backup set details of the requested backup sets. You can find the database name using this API.

Enhanced user interface for representing backup set status

The backup set status representation present on the global dashboard and organization dashboard is more granular and informative.

Achieve data resiliency with Oracle RAC support

Druva enhances its backup solution to support Oracle RAC databases, wherein you can securely protect databases running across multiple instances (nodes). List all snapshots and perform full automated restore of a database using Oracle DTC actionable APIs

You can list all snapshots for a specific backup set by using the List all snapshots API. Additionally, you can restore a database automatically to the original server by using the Full database restore to original API.  For more information, see API reference documentation on the Druva developer portal.

Customer action required: Get the snapshot name by using the List all snapshots API. Pass this snapshot name to the Full database restore to original API.

Identify backup sets associated with the Oracle PBS jobs

Earlier, the API endpoints for the Oracle PBS jobs, such as List all backup jobs, List all restore jobs, and so on, did not have backup set ID and backup set mount names. This made it difficult to correlate the job with the respective backup set.

To fix this, we are now passing some additional response parameters to the APIs.

Run DR failback checks to check AWS-VMware connectivity and guest OS issues

The DR failback checks now include environmental and guest OS checks. These checks look for connectivity issues between your AWS account and your VMware environment and also check guest OS issues that could cause your DR failback jobs to fail. Fix any identified issues, and then run DR failback jobs. For more information, see DR Failback Checks.

Backup and restore VMs with NVMe disks and controllers

You can now backup and restore virtual machines with NVMe disks or controllers using the HotAdd transport mode by deploying the latest backup proxy. The backup of virtual machines with NVMe disks or controllers falls back to the NBDSSL mode if the VMware backup proxy does not have an NVMe controller.

Deprecated Features

Deprecation of t2.micro and t2.small instance types for DR failovers

Druva will no longer support t2.micro and t2.small instance types for DR failovers. These instances will automatically be upgraded to t2.medium if you run a DR failover without changing the instance type manually. For more information, see DRaaS support matrix.

Delete older job logs of a backup set on File Servers

Are older job logs of backup sets consuming storage space on your File Server? Does it take long to delete job logs from File Server automatically due to a greater default threshold value?
You can now use the OLDER_LOGS_DELETION_AGE parameter in the configuration file to set the threshold value of your choice for deleting older job logs, thereby saving space on the File Server. The default value is 180 days. The minimum allowed value is 1 day. For more information on configuration file and its location, see Phoenix agent logs and configuration details.

Delete older job logs of a backup set on NAS

Enhancement

Support to automatically delete the renamed copies of the original file after successful SQL restore

While using the Replace Original Database option on the Restore Settings page, if you want to restore a database whose files are at location, C:\Data\DB.mdf, this file is renamed (DB_org.mdf) while the version you want to restore is saved with the same name (DB.mdf). However, the subsequent restore leads to additional copies of the renamed files (DB_org.mdf) and keeps increasing space on the database. Druva Phoenix now automatically deletes the renamed copies of the original file if a restore is successful. For more information, see Restore SQL server databases using snapshots.

Back up Oracle DTC databases to local storage

You can back up your Oracle databases to local storage that is configured as CloudCache to meet demanding RTOs, say in a remote office with limited WAN. The CloudCache periodically synchronizes this data to Druva Cloud. For more information, see Configure Oracle server for backup.

Cancel a job using Oracle DTC API

Prevent accidental or malicious deletion of backups

You can now protect your business-critical backup sets, virtual machines, backup mounts, and configured databases from any accidental or malicious deletion. You must provide a reason to confirm the delete action. Such delete actions are logged and can be viewed on the Audit Trails page. For more information, see File Servers, NAS, VMware, Hyper-V, MS SQL, Oracle PBS, Oracle DTC, and Nutanix AHV.

Use AWS PrivateLink instead of the internet for communication between EC2 instances and Druva Cloud

You can now leverage AWS PrivateLink for communication between your File Servers, NAS, Oracle DTC, or MS SQL servers deployed as EC2 instances and Druva Cloud. AWS PrivateLink ensures that the traffic between your servers and Druva Cloud isn't exposed to the public internet. You can now protect your Nutanix AHV virtual machines managed by Prism Elements and Prism Centrals. Deploy the backup proxy virtual machine in Prism and configure your virtual machines for backup. File Servers restore pre-checks 

File Server restores now include pre-checks to identify issues that can cause the restore to fail. These checks look for disconnected agents, insufficient folder path permission, or environmental issues and list them on the Restore Pre-checks dialog. Support for backup and restore of virtual machines with NVMe controllers or disks

You can use an NVMe controller from ESXi 6.5 and VM hardware version 13. If you want to restore VMs with NVMe controllers or disks from older snapshots, you must manually add  ENABLE_NVME_CONVERSION = True parameter in the Phoenix.cfg file on the VMware backup proxy. For more information, see Restore full virtual machine.

Assign key-based authentication for DR failover- Guest OS checks of your Linux based virtual machines

You can now use a more secure key-based authentication for your Linux-based VMs, wherein you can avoid using passwords for security reasons to authenticate a VM during DR failover checks- Guest OS. The key-based authentication involves creating a key pair (public and private) and copying it to all your Linux-based VMs. For more information, see the “Assign key-based authentication for your Linux based virtual machine” section in DR failover checks - Guest OS.

Oracle DTC API for on-demand backup job
