Provide inSync Client full disk access using PPPC utility provided by Jamf

Overview

Apple’s privacy restrictions in macOS Mojave 10.14 onwards, Druva inSync must be provided permission to access all or specific locations\folders on a user device to ensure the inSync Client app is able to back up these locations\folders.

Using Jamf's Privacy Preferences Policy Control (PPPC) Utility, you can create a payload file. This payload allows you to configure settings to allow or deny access to applications and services.

Create a Configuration profile in Jamf

  1. Download and open Jamf's Privacy Preferences Policy Control (PPPC) Utility.

  1. Click the + icon to add an application and select Druva inSync from Applications.

  1. In the Properties section, select “Allow”. This ensures that Druva inSync has full disk access to the user's device.

We recommend allowing access to all items, but you should work with your internal stakeholders to determine what is best for your environment.

  1. Click Save. Enter an Organization and Payload Name. Click Save. ( See below image as example).

  1.  A .mobileconfig file is created and saved to the location you selected.

Follow the instructions in Jamf's guide to deploy custom configuration profiles to deploy the .mobileconfig file to devices in your environment.

This will ensure that Druva inSync will have full disk access and will complete the backup successfully.
