VMware backup fails with "The method is disabled by 'com.vmware.vcDr'" error
Problem description
Snapshot creation of VMware virtual machine fails with the error “The method is disabled by 'com.vmware.vcDr'”.
Cause
This issue occurs if you try to back up a VM from the SRM (Site Recovery Manager) placeholder folder/datastore.

Resolution
The virtual machines that are protected using SRM (Site Recovery Manager) create placeholder folders in the Datastore, which do not have any vmdk files. You must always configure the backups for the original virtual machine where vmdk resides.
