What is non-critical data and what file extensions are scanned to generate Recommendations?

Druva classifies non-critical data which may not be required to function a business or does not add value to your business making decisions. Non-critical data is usually a result of the applications running in the background, personal files stored by your users, and the files generated as part of random activities and so on.

Any type of data under protection has a cost and an overhead associated it with to manage it. Non-Critical data can be deleted or excluded from backup to eliminate the cost of protecting it.

The following type of files and their extensions are flagged as non-critical data and are scanned every backup set level for NAS and File Server configured for protection in Druva.

After what duration is data updated in Recommendations

Recommendations  engine runs once every 24 hours on the previous day backups occurred on NAS and File Server. Depending upon the factors like backup completion time, storage region, and Recommendations engine run time, data may be updated anytime between 24 hours to 48 hours after backup completion.

Can I modify the default file types and extensions used to generate Recommendations?

Yes. Recommendations are generated based on Rule which defines the threshold when Recommendations should be generated and for what file types and their extensions. You can modify this Rule anytime. For instructions, see Manage Recommendations.
