Support for Windows device

Can users back up data on a Windows device?

The Druva Mobile App does not back up data on a Windows device. Apps on the Windows device get only 10 seconds every 30 minutes to update their tiles in the background. This is a very short duration for the Druva Mobile App to complete a backup operation in the background. You can access backup and share data by using the Druva Mobile App.

Can users add files to the Share folder by using the Druva Mobile App on their Windows device?

Yes. Users can access backup and share data by using the Druva Mobile App. They can also add content to their share folder by using the Druva Mobile App.

Single sign-on integration (Applicable for Cloud)

Is Single Sign-On (SSO) integrated with the Druva Mobile App?

Yes. Single sign-on (SSO) is integrated with the Druva Mobile App. If you have a Cloud account, you can configure SSO with the Druva Cloud. For more information, see Configure Single Sign-On forDruva users.

If SSO is integrated, can I deny access to the Druva Mobile App based on approved IP ranges or geographies?

You cannot deny access to the Druva Mobile App based on approved IP ranges or geographies. SSO is a one-time authentication. On successful user authentication, the Druva Mobile App does not send any request to the SSO server.

Active Directory integration

Can I configure Active Directory Federation Services (AD FS) with SAML?

Yes. You can configure AD FS to communicate with SAML 2.0.

Data restore

If users uninstall the Druva Mobile App from their mobile device, will their restored data also get deleted?

After users uninstall the Druva Mobile App from their mobile device, their restore data is not deleted. Only those files that they saved for offline viewing are deleted.

Can I make it mandatory for users to restore data only on corporate wireless connection?

No. You cannot make it mandatory for users to restore data only on the corporate wireless connections.

Can I backup large amount of data on iOS?

iOS platform has a known limitation of any app being able to execute only 3 minutes in the background. As a result, Druva Cloud might not be able to complete app data backups already handled.    

In a rivate Cloud deployment, which ports does the Druva Mobile App use to send a backup or restore request to the Druva Edge Server? (Applicable for inSync On-Premises  and iOS)

The Druva Mobile App uses ports 6061 and 6071 to send a backup or restore request to the Druva Edge Server. For more information on Druva Edge Server, see About Edge Server.

Password and data security

How are passwords secured on the Druva Mobile App?

On an iOS device, after successful user authentication, the inSync Master generates a device key for subsequent authentication. This key is securely saved on the keychain of the device.

On an Android device, the PIN that users set on the Druva Mobile App secures the user password.

Is the mobile app container encrypted? How do we encrypt data on iOS and Android?

On an iOS device, the mobile app container is encrypted when you use a passcode to secure your device.

On an Android device, by default, the mobile app container is encrypted.

Track user activities

Will I receive a notification when users install or uninstall the Druva Mobile App from their mobile device?

No. The Druva Cloud does not send you any notification when users install or uninstall the Druva Mobile App from their mobile device. When a user installs the Druva Mobile App on their mobile device, you can view the device on the User Details page. To go to the User Details page, on the inSync Management Console menu bar, click Manage > Devices. On the User Details page, click the Device Details tab. For more information on how to view the device list for a user, see Device Details page.

Can I limit the number of mobile devices that each user can back up?

No. You cannot limit the number of mobile devices that each user can back up. However, you can set restrictions on the number of devices on which users can activate the inSync Client.

Can I view the audit trail for users who restore data by using the Druva Mobile App?
