Enable backup from mobile devices
Overview
You can allow users to backup data from their iOS and Android devices. When you enable backup from mobile devices, you can:
- Allow users to backup their mobile data. Users can also choose specific content for backup.
- Make backup across mobile devices mandatory.
Note: You can enable or disable backup from mobile devices through profiles. You cannot do this on an individual user level.
Behavioral changes in the backup state
Following are the changes in the backup states and associated backup behavior in inSync Cloud.

Enabled or Mandatory |
Backup is mandatory. An administrator can select backup folders and Druva Mobile App will backup the folders compulsorily. inSync user has no control over the backup. |

Backup is enabled. Administrators can mandate the folders to be backed up. inSync users too can select additional folders for backup. However, inSync users cannot remove the administrator-mandated folders from being backed up.

Enable backup from mobile devices
To enable backup from mobile devices
- On the Endpoints console, click Profiles.
- Select the profile for which you want to configure folders for backup.
- Go to the Edit option at the top right, and click the Endpoints tab from the dropdown. The Edit Profile window appears.
- Under the Smartphones /Tablets, select the Enable Mobile Backup checkbox.
- As applicable, click Android or iOS platforms to configure the applications for backup.
- Select the locations as applicable for backup and click Save.
Due to Android OS limitations, the App settings for Android devices are not backed up.
Disable backup from mobile devices
To disable backup from mobile devices
- On the Endpoints console, click Profiles.
- Select the profile for which you want to configure folders for backup.
- Go to the Edit option at the top right, and click the Endpoints tab from the dropdown. The Edit Profile window appears.
- Under the Smartphones /Tablets, clear the Enable Mobile Backup checkbox and click Save.
