Provision storage

Heads up!

We've transitioned to a new documentation portal to serve you better. Access the latest content by clicking here.

Request Druva Cloud Storage

The following sections summarize the user scenarios based on whether or not you are an existing Druva Cloud Platform (DCP) customer.

Druva CloudRanger Customers with no DCP Credentials

Prerequisites

Druva CloudRanger customers with no pre-existing DCP credentials will first need to get their DCP account configured before the Cloud storage can be provisioned.

Step 1: Once you initiate the Provision Storage request from your CloudRanger console, the Support team will configure the required credentials for your Druva Cloud Platform account. You may receive an email communication detailing the steps to set up and activate your DCP account.

Step 2: Once complete, the Storage requested will be provisioned on Druva Cloud based on your agreed credit limits.

Ensure that you have set appropriate service quotas for your EBS Direct Service prior to setting up the backup workflow on Druva Cloud. The quota limits will need to be set to an appropriate level to avoid performance-related issues. To request a service quota increase, navigate to the Service Quotas page on your AWS console.
•  Set the GetSnapshotBlock requests per account to an appropriate value that corresponds to the number of devices that you wish to protect concurrently.
We recommend setting this to approximately 250 * the number of protected devices, to ensure a smooth backup performance across your AWS accounts.
•  You may want to calibrate this value based on your data protection strategy and business requirements.
For more information, refer to the AWS documentation.

Provisioning Storage

Proceed with the steps detailed below to get started with setting up your DCP account and provisioning storage on Druva Cloud.

  1. Log into your Druva CloudRanger console and navigate to the Account for which you wish to set up storage. Click the gear icon on the top navigation bar.
  2. Click Druva Cloud to be directed to the Druva Storage page.

  3. Click Provision Storage to request a new Druva Cloud Storage.
  4. Select the Druva Storage Region to set up the storage and specify an appropriate Storage Name.

Note: The Storage Name once defined cannot be modified.

The Storage request once initiated triggers a Support ticket to provision the storage on Druva Cloud based on your agreed credit limits. Once complete, the Storage listing page will list all available Cloud Storage with the relevant Status

  • Requested: Indicates that a new Storage has been requested and is pending approval. Once approved, the status is updated accordingly.
  • Access Provided: Indicates that the request has been approved and Cloud Storage has been provisioned in the Region specified.
  • Access Denied: Indicates that the storage request has been denied for specific reasons. For more information, contact your Druva Account Manager or Support

Druva CloudRanger Customers with DCP Credentials

The workflow for Druva CloudRanger customers with existing DCP credentials remains consistent with the previous scenario. If you are provisioned with DCP credentials, you may directly proceed with requesting Storage on Druva Cloud.

  1. Log into your Druva CloudRanger console and navigate to the Account for which you wish to set up storage. Click the gear icon on the top navigation bar.
  2. Click Druva Cloud to be directed to the Druva Storage page.

Next steps

Storage Rules help create a mapping between Druva Cloud and your AWS resources within specific Regions and Accounts. Once you identify the AWS resources to be backed up to Druva Cloud, the Storage Rules direct the data backups to the appropriate Druva Cloud Region provisioned within your chosen Account. For more information, see Configure Storage Rules.

Note: You will need to configure Storage Rules to get started with backing up snapshots to Druva Cloud. A backup policy defined to move snapshots to Druva Cloud will be executed only when a corresponding Storage Rule is available.
