Manage guest users

Overview

You can allow inSync Share users to share data with guest users. Guest users are individuals who do not have inSync Share installed on their devices. These users can be people within or outside your organization. These guest users can log on to inSync Web to access, download, or update files and folders that inSync users shared with them.

  • If guest users have view permission on the shared content, they can only download the shared files and folders.
  • If guest users have edit permission on the shared content, they can upload files, create folders, and delete files from the shared folder.

Guest users cannot:

  • Install inSync and use it for data backup or share.
  • Sync shared folders with their devices.
  • Leave a shared folder.

Guest user licenses

By default, you get 50 guest user licenses with your inSync Share license. Guest user licenses are allotted to your organization and are shared by all your users. Guest users consume licenses when inSync users share content with individuals who do not have an inSync Share account. Each guest user consumes one guest license. If you need more guest user licenses, send an email to support@druva.com.

Enable guest sharing for a profile 

To enable guest sharing for a profile,

  1. On the inSync Master Management Console menu bar, click Profiles.
  2. Click the profile for which you want to create a guest user.
  3. From the Profile Details page Click the Share tab.
  4. From the Share Settings area, click Edit.
  5. Select the Allow sharing with guests check box, and then click Save.

inSync Share users can then add a user as a guest user by using inSync Web.

View the number of guest licenses that you have

To view the number of guest licenses that you have

  1. On the inSync Master Management Console menu bar, click Availability > Share.
  2. On the inSync Dashboard, view the Share Summary area. You can view the number of guest users licenses that you have and the number of guest user licenses that you used.

  1. On the inSync Master Management Console menu bar, click Availability > Share.
  2. Click the Guests tab. The list of guest users added to inSync appears.

Download content that an inSync user shared with a guest user

To download content that an inSync user shared with a guest user

  1. On the inSync Master Management Console menu bar, click Availability > Share.
  2. Click the Guests tab.
  3. Click the guest user whose content you want to download.
  4. Click View Share Content. The Manage Share Content window appears.
  5. Click the file or folder that you want to download.
  6. Click Download. The content that you selected is downloaded on your computer.

Reset the password of a guest user

To reset the password of a guest user

  1. On the inSync Master Management Console menu bar, click Availability > Share.
  2. Click the Guests tab.
  3. Click the guest user whose password you want to reset.
  4. Click Reset Password. inSync sends an email with the new password to the guest user.

Delete a guest user

To delete a guest user

  1. On the inSync Master Management Console menu bar, click Availability > Share.
  2. Click the Guests tab.
  3. Click the guest user who you want to delete.
  4. Click Delete.
