As an administrator, you can allow users to update the interval between two scheduled backups. This gives users the opportunity to increase or decrease the frequency of the backups according to their preference.
Note: You can allow users to update backup interval through profiles. You cannot do this on an individual user level.
To allow users to update the backup interval
- On the inSync Master Management Console menu bar, click Profiles.
- Click the link of the profile for which you want to allow users to update backup schedule.
- Click the Backup Schedule area.
- In the Backup Schedule area, click Edit. The Edit Profile window appears.
- Select the Allow users to change schedule check box.
- Click Save.
Once this option is enabled, the backup schedule changes updated in the selected profile are applicable only to the newly added devices and not applicable to the devices associated with the users currently mapped to this profile. Users mapped to this profile have to manually update the backup schedule from inSync client user interface (UI).
Let's take a look at the scenarios when the users are migrated from one profile to another:
Scenario 1: If the current profile to which the user is mapped has the checkbox selected, then the users can set their own backup schedule using the inSync client UI. User backup schedules override administrator backup schedules.
Scenario 2: If the checkbox for the current profile to which the user is mapped is not selected, then the backup settings of the profile are enforced on the devices and users. Users cannot change or set their own backup schedule.
