Upgrade inSync Enterprise or inSync Professional

Version compatibility

You can only upgrade from inSync Enterprise or inSync Professional 5.4 or 5.4.1. If your version of inSync Enterprise or inSync Professional is earlier than 5.4, you must first upgrade to inSync 5.4, and then upgrade to inSync 5.8.

Note: After you upgrade your current inSync setup, your inSync plan aligns with the new inSync Private Cloud plan at no additional cost. For more information on upgrade or the new inSync Private Cloud plans, contact Druva Support.

Before you begin

Before you begin, ensure the following: 

  • You have administrator privileges on the computer where you want to upgrade inSync Enterprise or inSync Professional.
  • You have stopped the inSync services.
Note: If you use Junctions or Symbolic links for inSync Configuration paths, please contact Druva Support before you upgrade. Upgrading without Druva's assistance may result in instability.

Upgrade to version 5.8 on Windows

To upgrade to version 5.8 of inSync Elite or inSync Enterprise on Windows

  1. Download the inSync Master 5.8 installer. To obtain the download link for the installer, contact Druva Support.
  2. On the computer where you have inSync Enterprise or inSync Professional installed, run the inSync Master 5.8 installer. 

Upgrade to version 5.8 on CentOS

To upgrade to version 5.8 of inSync Elite or inSync Enterprise on CentOS

  1. Download the inSync Master 5.8 RPM package. To obtain the download link for the package,  contact Druva Support.
  2. On the computer where you have inSync Enterprise or inSync Professional is  installed, open a terminal and run the following command.
    • To uninstall the current version of inSync Enterprise:
      rpm -qa | grep -i druva-insync-master | sudo xargs rpm -e
      
    • To uninstall the current version of inSync Professional:
      rpm -qa | grep -i druva-insync-master | sudo xargs rpm -e
      
    Note: Do not delete any inSync configuration file while you uninstall the current version of inSync Enterprise . 
  3. Change the current working directory to the directory that contains the inSync Master 5.8 RPM package. This is the package that you downloaded in step 1.
  4. Run the following command:
    rpm -ivh <package_name>
    
    where <package_name> represents the file name (along with the extension) of the inSync Master 5.8 RPM package.

Upgrade to version 5.8 on Ubuntu

To upgrade to version 5.8 of inSync Elite or inSync Enterprise on Ubuntu

  1. Download the inSync Master 5.8 DEB package. To obtain the download link for the package,  contact Druva Support.
  2. On the computer where you have inSync Enterprise or Professional installed, open a terminal and run the following command.
    • To uninstall the current version of inSync Enterprise:
      dpkg --get-selections | grep -i druva-insync-master | sudo xargs dpkg -r
      
      where <version> represents the current version of inSync Enterprise that is installed on your computer.
    • To uninstall the current version of inSync Professional:
      dpkg --get-selections | grep -i druva-insync-master | sudo xargs dpkg -r
      
      where <version> represents the current version of inSync Professional that is installed on your computer.
    Note: Do not delete any inSync configuration file while you uninstall the current version of inSync Enterprise or Professional. 
  3. Change the current working directory to the directory that contains the inSync Master 5.8 DEB package. This is the package that you downloaded in step 1.
  4. Run the following command to install inSync Master 5.8:
    sudo dpkg -i <package_name>
    where <package_name> represents the file name (along with the extension) of the inSync Master 5.8 DEB package.
