Create a role

Overview

As a server administrator, you can:

Create a new role

To create a new role

  1. On the inSync Master Management Console menu bar, click Manage > Administrators. The Manage Administrators & Roles page appears.
  2. Click the Roles tab.
  3. Click Create Role. The Create New Role window appears.
  4. On the Summary page, provide the appropriate information for each field.
    Field Action
    Name    Type the name for this role.
    Description Type a short description for this role.
    Import rights from

    Select -select a role -.

  5. Click Next.
  6. On the Assign Rights page, if you want to assign a category to the new role, then select the category. When you select a category, all rights mapped to the selected category are assigned to the new role.
    If you want to assign specific rights from a category, then expand the appropriate category, and select the rights that you want to assign.
  7. Click Finish. The new role appears in the Roles list.

Create a custom role

To create a custom role

  1. On the inSync Master Management Console menu bar, click Manage > Administrators. The Manage Administrators & Roles page appears.
  2. Click the Roles tab.
  3. Click Create Role. The Create New Role window appears.
  4. On the Summary page, provide the appropriate information for each field.
    Field Action
    Name    Type the name for this role.
    Description Type a short description for this role.
    Import rights from

    Select a role from where you want to import rights.

  5. Click Next.
  6. On the Assign Rights page, you can modify the properties of the new role according to your requirements.
  7. Click Finish. The new role appears in the Roles list.
