Upgrade inSync Private Cloud

inSync Private Cloud Editions: File:/tick.png Elite File:/tick.png Enterprise

Version compatibility

You can only upgrade from inSync Private Cloud 5.4 or 5.4.1. If your version of inSync Private Cloud is earlier than 5.4, you must first upgrade to inSync 5.4, then upgrade to inSync 5.5.

Before you begin

Before you begin, ensure the following: 

  • You have administrator privileges on the computer where you want to upgrade inSync Master.
  • You stopped the inSync Master service. 
Note: If you use Junctions or Symbolic links for inSync Configuration paths, please contact Druva Support (support@druva.com) before you upgrade. Upgrading without Druva's assistance may result in instability.

Upgrade to inSync 5.5 on Windows

Upgrade inSync Edge Server

Note: Applicable only for existing set up of inSync Edge Server. If you do not have the inSync Edge Server installed, skip this step.

To upgrade to inSync Edge Server 5.5 on Windows

  1. Download the inSync Edge Server 5.5 installer. To obtain the download link for the installer, send an email to support@druva.com
  2. On the computer where you have inSync Edge Server installed, run the inSync Edge Server 5.5 installer.

Upgrade inSync Storage Node 

To upgrade to inSync Storage Node 5.5 on Windows

  1. (Optional) Ensure that you have upgraded inSync Edge Server.
  2. Download the inSync Storage Node 5.5 installer. To obtain the download link for the installer, send an email to support@druva.com
  3. On the computer where you have inSync Storage Node installed, run the inSync Storage Node 5.5 installer.
  4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 on each computer where you have inSync Storage Node installed. Ensure that you upgrade all storage nodes.

Upgrade inSync Master 

To upgrade to inSync Master 5.5 on Windows

  1. Ensure that you upgraded all storage nodes before you upgrade inSync Master.
  2. Download the inSync Master 5.5 installer. To obtain the download link for the installer, send an email to support@druva.com
  3. On the computer where you have inSync Master installed, run the inSync Master 5.5 installer. 

Upgrade to inSync 5.5 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux

Upgrade inSync Edge Server

Note: Applicable only for existing set up of inSync Edge Server. If you do not have the inSync Edge Server installed, skip this step.

To upgrade to inSync Edge Server 5.5 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux

  1. Download the inSync Edge Server 5.5 RPM package. To obtain the download link for the package, send an email to support@druva.com
  2. On the computer where you have inSync Edge Server installed, open a terminal.
  3. Change the current working directory to the directory that contains the inSync Edge Server 5.5 RPM package.
  4. Run the following command:
    rpm -Uvh <package_name>
    where, <package_name> represents the file name (along with the extension) of the inSync Edge Server 5.5 RPM package.

Upgrade inSync Storage Node 

To upgrade to inSync Storage Node 5.5 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux

  1. (Optional) Ensure that you have upgraded inSync Edge Server.
  2. Download the inSync Storage Node 5.5 RPM package. To obtain the download link for the package, send an email to support@druva.com
  3. On the computer where you have inSync Storage Node installed, open a terminal.
  4. Change the current working directory to the directory that contains the inSync Storage Node 5.5 RPM package.
  5. Run the following command:
    rpm -Uvh <package_name>
    where, <package_name> represents the file name (along with the extension) of the inSync Storage Node 5.5 RPM package. 
  6. Repeat steps 2 to 5 on each computer where you have inSync Storage Node installed. Ensure that you upgrade all storage nodes. 

Upgrade inSync Master

To upgrade to inSync Master 5.5 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux

  1. Download the inSync Master 5.5 RPM package. To obtain the download link for the package, send an email to support@druva.com
  2. On the computer where you have inSync Master installed, open a terminal.
  3. Change the current working directory to the directory that contains the inSync Master 5.5 RPM package.
  4. Run the following command:
    rpm -Uvh <package_name>
    where, <package_name> represents the file name (along with the extension) of the inSync Master 5.5 RPM package.

Upgrade to inSync 5.5 on Ubuntu

Upgrade inSync Edge Server

Note: Applicable only for existing set up of inSync Edge Server. If you do not have the inSync Edge Server installed, skip this step.

To upgrade to inSync Edge Server 5.5 on Ubuntu

  1. Download the inSync Edge Server 5.5 DEB package. To obtain the download link for the package, send an email to support@druva.com
  2. On the computer where you have inSync Edge Server installed, open a terminal.
  3. Change the current working directory to the directory that contains the inSync Edge Server 5.5 DEB package.
  4. Run the following command:
    sudo dpkg -i <package_name>
    
    where <package_name> represents the file name (along with the extension) of the inSync Edge Server 5.5 DEB package.

Upgrade inSync Storage Node 

To upgrade to inSync Storage Node 5.5 on Ubuntu

  1. (Optional) Ensure that you have upgraded inSync Edge Server.
  2. Download the inSync Storage Node 5.5 DEB package. To obtain the download link for the package, send an email to support@druva.com
  3. On the computer where you have inSync Storage Node installed, open a terminal.
  4. Change the current working directory to the directory that contains the inSync Storage Node 5.5 DEB package.
  5. Run the following command:
    sudo dpkg -i <package_name>
    
    where <package_name> represents the file name (along with the extension) of the inSync Storage Node 5.5 DEB package. 
  6. Repeat steps 2 to 5 on each computer where you have inSync Storage Node installed. Ensure that you upgrade all storage nodes. 

Upgrade inSync Master

To upgrade to inSync Master 5.5 on Ubuntu

  1. Download the inSync Master 5.5 DEB package. To obtain the download link for the package, send an email to support@druva.com
  2. On the computer where you have inSync Master installed, open a terminal.
  3. Change the current working directory to the directory that contains the inSync Master 5.5 DEB package.
  4. Run the following command:
    sudo dpkg -i <package_name>
    
    where <package_name> represents the file name (along with the extension) of the inSync Master 5.5 DEB package.
