Configure inSync Master credentials

Overview

You can run the inSync Master service as local system account or a user account. You can select user account to identify the inSync Master processes or to use network attached storage to store backup data. By default, the inSync service is run as local system account. However, if you want to use network attached storage (NAS) to store backup data, run the inSync service as a domain user that has Read/Write access on the NAS share.

Configure inSync Master credentials for local system account

To configure inSync Master credentials

  1. On the inSync Master Management Console menu bar, click Manage > Settings.
  2. Click the Network tab.
  3. Under the inSync Server Credentials area, click Edit. The inSync Service Credentials window appears.

  4. Select Use Local System Account check box.
  5. Click Save.

To configure inSync Master credentials

  1. On the inSync Master Management Console menu bar, click Manage > Settings.
  2. Click the Network tab.
  3. Under the inSync Server Credentials area, click Edit. The inSync Service Credentials window appears.

  4. Click to clear the Use Local System Account check box. Additional fields appear.
    • In the Username box, type the username for the service account.
    • In the Password box, type the password for the service account
  5. Click Save.
Note: If you have configured the inSync Service Credentials earlier with a user who does not have administrative privileges, you must provide the information for the new user, and then manually restart the inSync service.
