inSync Share folder encryption

Overview

Your administrator can enable encryption for the inSync Share folder. If encryption is enabled, note the following points:

  • Druva inSync encrypts files in the inSync Share folder. File names that appear in green are encrypted while file names that are not encrypted appear in black.
  • Druva inSync encrypts only files within the inSync Share folder. Druva inSync does not encrypt folders.
  • Druva inSync encrypts new files that you add to the inSync Share folder.
  • If you update the location of the inSync Share folder, Druva inSync encrypts files at the new location. For more information, see Update the location of the inSync Share folder.
  • If you encrypt the inSync Share folder, encryption from Druva inSync supersedes user encryption.
  • If a user for whom inSync Share folder encryption is disabled collaborates with you, for whom inSync Share folder encryption is enabled, then during the sync operation, Druva inSync encrypt all files in your synced folder.
  • If you, for whom inSync Share folder encryption is enabled collaborates with a user for whom inSync Share folder encryption is disabled, then during the sync operation, Druva inSync decrypt all files in that user’s synced folder.
Note: When Druva inSync encrypts your inSync Share folder for the first time, an Encrypting File System window appears on your laptop. Druva recommends that you back up the EFS key and certificate.
