Hardware and software prerequisites

Hardware prerequisites

The following table lists the hardware prerequisites to install the inSync Client.

CPU 2.4 GHZ
RAM 1 GB
Network Card 10/100 Mbps Fast Ethernet adapters
Disk Space 500 MB

Software prerequisites

The following table lists the software prerequisites to install the inSync Client.

Operating System

Linux

  • Ubuntu (Unity interface) 18.04 (64-bit), 20.04 (64-bit), 22.04 (64-bit)
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 8.4 (64-bit), 8.5 (64-bit), 9.3 (64-bit)
  • CentOS (Gnome interface) 6.6, 6.8, 7.1, 7.2 (64-bit), 8.2.2004(64 bit)
Note:
  • inSync does not support devices in VDI environment.
  • inSync Client 5.9.x does not support backup of devices running on 32-bit Linux OS. If you want to backup a 32-bit Linux device, use inSync Client v5.1.1. 

Supported Upgrade Paths

The supported upgrade paths of inSync Client from the earlier release versions to the 5.9.x are as follows:

The supported upgrade paths of inSync Client for Linux (Ubuntu) from the earlier release versions to 5.9.5 are as follows:

  • 5.9
  • 5.9.1
  • 5.9.2
  • 5.9.3
  • 5.9.4

Linux (CentOS)

The supported upgrade paths of inSync Client for Linux (CentOS) from the earlier release versions to 5.9.3 are as follows:

  • 5.4.2
  • 5.9.0

Cache Server

  • 5.9.6

AD Connector

  • 6.2

Note:

  • For inSync Client versions earlier than 5.4.2, you have to manually upgrade client to version 5.4.2, and then auto-upgrade or manually upgrade to version 5.9. For download links of inSync Client, see Download Links
  • Auto upgrade is not supported on devices running on OS X El Capitan if inSync Client version is v5.5 or earlier.
