Quick Start to inSync

Installation and configuration

Install and activate inSync on first laptop

  1. Download and run the installer.
  2. To install:
    1. Select the language. 
    2. Accept the EULA.
    3. Select the destination folder.
  3. To activate:
    1. Double-click the inSync icon.
    2. Enter Server URL and your credentials. 
    3. Click Activate.
    4. If required, configure proxy server settings.
    5. Change password.

Note:
  • If your organization uses SSO, leave the password blank.
  • The Server URL and your credentials are available in the account activation email. 

Configure Backup Folders

Add backup folders

  1. Open inSync.
  2. On the Summary window, click addicon.png.
  3. Select the folder you want to backup, and then click Next
  4. Select the files and folders that you want to backup.
  5. Click Add.

Add backup settings

  1. Open inSync.
  2. On the Summary window, click configureicon.png for the backup folder that you want to configure.
  3. If you want to include all files for backup, select the Do you want to include all files in this folder? check box.
  4. If you want to include common file types, select the appropriate check box.
  5. If you want to add or exclude more file types, click Advanced Settings.
  6. Click Save.

Backup content from device

  1. Open inSync.
  2. On the action bar, click Backup.
 

Restore data to your device

  1. Open inSync.
  2. On the action bar, click Restore
  3. On the Restore window, click the device and then select the snapshot from which you want to restore data.
  4. Select the files or folders that you want to restore, and click Restore to Device.

  1. Select the device to which you want to restore data.
  2. Select the restore location.
  3. Click Ok.

Configure proxy settings

  1. Open inSync.
  2. Click Preferences > Proxy Settings. 
  3. If you want to use proxy settings, click Yes.
  4. In the Configure proxy server using list, click the configuration option for proxy server.
  5. In the Proxy server IP address box, type the IP address of the proxy server.
  6. In the Port box, type the port number of the proxy server.
  7. In the Proxy type list, click the proxy server type.
  8. If access to proxy server requires authentication, select Require authentication check box.
  9. Click Save.

Configure resources

  1. Open inSync.
  2. Click Preferences > Backup Preferences. 
  3. In the Backup interval list, click the frequency of scheduled backups.
  4. In the  Max. Bandwidth used list, click the maximum network bandwidth that your device can consume while backing up data over LAN or WAN.
  5. In the CPU priority list, click the priority that you want to assign to inSync on your device.

Modify account details

  1. Open inSync.
  2. Click My Account. 
  3. If you want to change your inSync password, click Change Password.
  4. If you want to activate inSync using different credentials, see, Reactivate inSync.

inSync Web

Access inSync Web

  1. Open a browser.
  2. If you are an inSync Cloud user, then type, https://cloud.druva.com/home and then press Enter.
  3. If you are an inSync On Premise user, then type, https://<inSync Master URL>/home and then press Enter.
  4. On the inSync Web Login page, type your user name and password, and then click Login.

Restore data to your device

  1. Open inSync Web.
  2. Click the Restore tab.
  3. On the Restore window, click the device and then select the snapshot from which you want to restore data.
  4. Select the files or folders that you want to restore, and then click Restore To Device.
  5. Select the device to which you want to restore data.
  6. Select the restore location.
  7. Click Ok.

Download data to your device

  1. Open inSync Web.
  2. Click the Restore tab.
  3. On the Restore window, click the device and then select the snapshot from which you want to download.
  4. Select the files or folders that you want to download, and then click Download Now.
