Create and share a link

Overview

Sharing a link is a multiple-step process.

Step 1: Create the link. You can either create a password-protected link or a non-password protected link.
Step 2:

By default, inSync Share creates download links. If you do not want others to download the content, update the link properties to make it a view-only link.

Step 3: Share the link with others. You can either send an email using inSync Web or you can copy the link URL and share it any way you want.

Create a link

To create a link

  1. Open inSync Web. The INSYNC SHARE page appears.
  2. In the All Content table, click the row of the folder or file that you want to share, and then click the Share Link icon. The Share Link window appears.

  3. If you want to enable password for your link, click Yes.
    If you want to create a normal link, click No.
  4. Click Get Link.

inSync Share creates a download link, by default. If you create a password protected link, inSync Share generates a password and emails it to you.

Create a view link

By default, inSync Share creates download links. You can update the default properties to create a view link.

To create a view link

  1. Open inSync Web. The INSYNC SHARE page appears.
  2. Click Links. The Links page appears.
  3. In the Links table, click the row of the folder for which you want to create a view link, and then click More > Manage Link. The Manage Link window appears.

  4. Click to clear the Allow Downloads checkbox.

  5. Click Save.
Note: View links work only for Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and PDF documents. For PowerPoint files, even the hidden slides are visible when shared using view links.

Share link with others

To share a link

  1. Open inSync Web. The INSYNC SHARE page appears.
  2. Click Links. The Links page appears.
  3. In the Links table, click the row of the folder that you want to share with other users, and then click More > Send Link. The Send Link window appears.

  4. In the Enter email Ids separated by commas box, type the email addresses of the users with whom you want to share the link. Ensure that you separate consecutive entries using a comma.

  5. If you want to share a password protected link, select Send password. inSync sends the password in a separate email.
  6. Click Send. inSync sends an email with the URL of the share link to the email addresses that you specify.
