Changing the network bandwidth availability for backup

Overview

This topic explains how to change the network bandwidth availability for backup.

Note: You can modify the network bandwidth utilization only if the inSync administrator has assigned you the right to do so.

About network bandwidth used during backup

The backup process requires inSync client to push data from your backup folders to the inSync server. This consumes a portion of your network bandwidth. The inSync administrator assigns the bandwidth that the backup process can utilize.

The inSync administrator can assign network bandwidth either as a percentage of the total available bandwidth or in absolute terms. You can assign the network bandwidth utilization only as a percentage of the total available bandwidth. inSync client uses the least of the values assigned by you and the administrator. To see the actual bandwidth utilization, see the inSync log files.
