Installing inSync client
Overview
This topic explains how you can install inSync client on Windows, Mac, and Linux. It also explains how you can upgrade inSync client to 5.3.1.
Downloading the inSync client Installer
Follow either of these methods to download the installer.
Method | Description |
---|---|
Use the activation email credentials | To use inSync client, you must have an inSync account. This account is created by your inSync administrator. When the inSync administrator creates your account, you will receive an email with the account details. This activation email contains:

Administrator shares inSync client share folder link | Your administrator shares a folder containing the inSync client installer. |
Installing inSync client on Windows
To install inSync client on windows
- Double-click the installer.
- Accept the end user license agreement.
- Select the inSync client home directory.
- Select shortcuts for accessing inSync client.
After the installation completes, you must activate the inSync client. For more information, see Activating inSync Client.
Installing inSync client on Mac
To install inSync client on Mac
- Double-click to mount the .dmg file.
- Double-click the installer inside the mounted volume.
- Accept the end user license agreement.
- Select the disk to which you want to install the inSync client.
After the installation completes, you must activate the inSync client. For more information, see Activating inSync Client.
Installing inSync client on Linux
To install inSync client on Linux
- From the directory that contains the installer, install inSync client:
- For Ubuntu, run the following command:
sudo dpkg –i <package name>
- For CentOS and RHEL, run the following commands:
su rpm –ivh <package name>
In the commands, <package name> represents the file name along with the file extension of the installation package.
- For Ubuntu, run the following command:
- (Only for Ubuntu) Install the libgnome2-0 library and restart the computer. Use the following command to install the library:
sudo apt-get install libgnome2-0
After the installation completes, you must activate the inSync client. For more information, see Activating inSync Client.
Upgrading inSync client
Use this table to determine platform-specific upgrade steps.
