Understanding inSync

What is inSync?

inSync is an enterprise-level data backup and sharing solution. inSync includes the following components:

  • inSync Server to which data is backed up from endpoints such as computers, smartphones, and tablets. Only inSync administrators can access the inSync server.
  • inSync client that is installed on endpoints from which data is backed up. inSync client is generally accessed by end users. 

In the event of a device or data loss, you can restore or download data from the inSync Server.

Interfaces for interacting with inSync server

You can use these interfaces for data backup and restore to the inSync server. 

Interface Interface Type Description
inSync Client Software Application

This is your primary interface residing on your devices.
Using inSync Client, you can perform tasks such as:

  • Configure the files and folders that you want to back up.
  • Schedule backup intervals.
  • Configure backup resources.
inSync Share Folder

This is your primary share interface.
Files saved to inSync Share are available across all your devices that are configured with inSync.
Additionally, you can share files with other inSync users. You can also create view or download links for your files.

Note: inSync Share appears in your file manager menu only if your organization purchases the share license.
inSync Web Web Application The web interface for data share and restore.
inSync Companion App Mobile Application This is your primary interface for data backup and share on mobile devices.
