About inSync Share

Overview

Explains what the feature is or what its benefits are to the user or customer.

What is inSync Share?

The inSync Share folder is a home directory for your shared data. To share a file or folder with other inSync users, you must save a copy of your file or folder under this folder. Likewise, files and folders that other users share "appear" under this folder. 

The inSync Share folder appears only if your inSync license includes Share. 

Accessing the inSync Share folder on your device

You can access the inSync Share folder either from inSync client or from your computer’s file manager.

 

To access the inSync Share folder

  1. Open inSync client.
  2. On the Summary window, click Open inSync Share.

 -or-

 Right-click the inSync client tray icon and click Open inSync Share Folder.

The inSync Share folder opens.

 

Alternative Access:

You can access the inSync Share folder from your computer’s file manager:

  • Windows: C:\Users\[user name]\inSync Share
  • Linux and Mac: /home/[user name]/inSync Share

Accessing inSync Share content on inSync Web

 

To access inSync Share content

  1. Open inSync Web
  2. On the menu bar, click Share
  3. On the left navigation pane, click All Content to view your inSync Share data or Shared Content to view shared folders.

Types of Folders in inSync Share

Folders contained in inSync Share can be classified as:

Folder Type Description
Sync folders All folders contained in inSync Share are collectively known as sync folders. You can access sync folders across all your devices.
Share folders Folders that you share with other inSync users or folders that other users share with you. You can retain some share folders on inSync Web but not in inSync Share. This selective retention is called selective sync.
