The inSync Client Interface

Overview

Explains what the feature is or what its benefits are to the user or customer.

Accessing inSync Client

inSync client is launched as soon as you start your computer. To access the inSync client interface, use the system tray icon. Alternatively, open inSync Client through the Start menu on Windows and Linux and Launchpad on Mac.

 

To open inSync Client

  • Click the inSync icon on your computer's system tray.

-or-

  • Right-click the inSync Client tray icon and click Open inSync.

The Summary window appears. 

Note: If inSync client is obscured from your view, clicking the inSync system tray icon brings inSync client to the fore.

This table contains a brief description of the Summary window elements.

1 The navigation area displays:
  • Username – The name of the inSync user. Click the username to navigate to the Accounts tab on the Preferences window.
  • Help - Opens the inSync Client help.
2 The device name.

The backup details area displays:

  • Backup Status – Indicates the status of the last backup
  • Last Backup – Indicate the time of last backup
  • Next Backup – Indicates the time of next backup
  • Backup Interval – Indicates the gap between two consecutive backups

The action buttons area displays:

  • Backup Now – Click this button to start a backup
  • Pause Backup - Click this button to pause inSync client
  • Resume Backup - Click this button to resume inSync client
  • Restore – Click this button to launch the Restore Files window
  • Launch inSync Web – Click this button to launch inSync Web
  • Open inSync Share -Click this button to open the inSync Share folder
  • Preferences – Click this button to open the Preferences window

The share details area displays:

  • Share Status – Indicates the synchronization status of the inSync Share folder. Sync Completed indicates that all files in the inSync Share folder are available on all your devices.
  • Last Sync – Indicates the time when data in the inSync Share folder was last synchronized.

The data details area displays:

  • Devices – The total number of devices under your inSync account
  • Quota Used – User quota used versus the allocated quota
  • Backup Data – Total data in backup folders across your devices
  • Share Data – The size of data in your inSync Share folder

This table contains a brief description of the Preferences window elements.

The navigation area displays: 

  • Username – The name of the inSync user. Click the username to navigate to the Accounts tab on the Preferences window.
  • Help - Opens the inSync Client help.
  • Summary – Opens the Summary window of inSync Client.

The configuration tabs.

  • Folders - Displays the backup folders.  
  • Resources - Displays the backup interval, network bandwidth used, and CPU priority for backups.
  • Privacy - Provides user the option to prevent inSync administrator to view or download user data. This tab is displayed only if your administrator has assigned appropriate permissions to you. 
  • Account - Displays your inSync account information.
3 The action buttons – Save and Cancel.

This table contains a brief description of the inSync system tray icon.

Icon Description
icon1.gif Backup completed successfully.

(Rotating)

Data backup is in progress.
icon2.gif inSync client is paused.
icon3.gif Backup was disrupted or connection to inSync server was lost. 
icon4.gif inSync Share folder is updated. 

This table contains a brief description of the tasks that you can perform from the inSync client system tray icon. 

Field Description
Open inSync Opens the Summary window.

Restore

Opens the Restore tab on inSync Web.
Launch inSync Web Opens inSync Web in a browser.
Open inSync Share folder Opens the inSync Share folder.
Share Updates Displays the list of shared files synchronized with your inSync Share folder.
Help Opens the inSync client help.
