Installing inSync Client
Overview
This topic explains how you can install inSync client on Windows, Mac, and Linux. It also explains how you can upgrade to inSync client 5.2.2.
Downloading the inSync Client Installer
You can download the inSync Client on your computer as follows:
Method | Description |

Activation email from your administrator | When the inSync administrator creates your account, you will receive an email with the account details. The inSync account activation email is important as it contains the information you need to download and activate the inSync Client on all your computers. This email is called the inSync account activation email and contains the following information:
This information is necessary to access inSync Web. We recommend that you store this email for later use. |
Administrator shares inSync Client share folder link | Your administrator can create a share folder and keep the inSync Client in that share folder. The administrator can then share the link of the shared folder with you. You can access the share folder and copy the inSync Client on your computer. |
Installing inSync client on Windows or Mac
Double-click to start the installer and follow the Installation Wizard to complete the specified tasks:
- Accept the end user license agreement.
- Select the folder to which you want to install the inSync Client.
Select the shortcuts such as Desktop and Quick Launch Bar to access the inSync Client.
This task is applicable only for installation on Windows.
After the installation is complete, you must activate the inSync client. For more information on activating the inSync client, see Activating inSync Client.
Installing inSync Client on Linux
To install the inSync Client on Linux
- Do one of the following:
- If you are installing on a 64-bit OS, install compatibility libraries for the 32-bit inSync Client.
- If you are installing on Ubuntu, type the command, apt-get install ia32-libs on the terminal.
- If you are installing on CentOS, type the command, yum install glibc on the terminal.
- On the terminal, type cd <directory>.
The <directory> is the path to the folder where you have downloaded the inSync Client installer. - Install inSync Client as follows:
- On 32-bit Ubuntu, type,
sudo dpkg –i <package name>
- On 64-bit Ubuntu, type,
sudo dpkg –i --force-architecture <package name>
- On CentOS, type, su
rpm –ivh <package name>
The <package name> represents the file name along with the file extension of the installation package.
After the installation is complete, you must activate the inSync Client. For more information on activating the inSync client, see Activating inSync Client.
Upgrading inSync Client
You can upgrade as follows:
Operating System | Upgrade Instruction |

Windows | Install the new version over your existing installation. For installation instructions, see Installing inSync Client on Windows or Mac. |
Mac | Install the new version over your existing installation. For installation instructions, see Installing inSync Client on Windows or Mac. |
Linux | Uninstall your existing installation and then install the new version. For uninstallation instructions, see Uninstalling inSync Client. For installation instructions, see Installing inSync Client on Linux. |
