Pause and resume a backup operation
Overview
If your inSync administrator provides you with the required permissions, you can pause a backup. You can configure the inSync client to resume after an hour, a day, or at the next scheduled backup.
The following table lists the scenarios in which inSync resumes backup.

Pause and resume backup scenarios
Scenario 1: User pauses an ongoing backup
The following table lists the interval that you can configure to pause an ongoing backup and its impact after the pause interval is complete.

An hour | Scenario: The backup interval is set to 8 hours. The user pauses the backup at 10:00 A.M. Result: The inSync client pauses the backup for an hour and resumes the backup at 11:00 A.M. |

Scenario 2: User clicks pause backup when the inSync client is not running a backup
The following table lists the interval that you can configure to pause a backup when the inSync client is not running a backup and its impact after the pause interval is complete.

An hour | Scenario: The backup interval is set to 8 hours. The inSync client has completed the backup at 10:30 A.M., and the user pauses the backup at 11 A.M., when the backup is not running. Result: No impact because the next scheduled backup is after 8 hours. |

Pause a backup operation
To pause a backup operation
- Start the inSync client
- On the Summary page, click Pause. A list with additional options appear.
- Click the appropriate option.
Field Action Pause for 1 hour If you want the inSync client to resume backup after an hour, in the list, click Pause for 1 hour. Pause for today If you want the inSync client to resume backup after 12 hours, in the list, click Pause for today. Pause until next scheduled backup If you want the inSync client to resume backup at the next scheduled backup, in the list, click Pause until next scheduled backup.

Resume a backup
To resume a backup
- Start the inSync client.
- On the Summary page, click Resume.
- If you resume a backup that the inSync client paused because of your laptop battery percentage level, a window appears that prompts you whether you want to proceed. Click Yes.
