inSync Client

Overview

Users might have a queries like "how the client will pick up the language and what language will it pick up once its upgraded (via different methods)". The following information will answer such questions.

Fresh installation

  1. If it is manual installation or language is passed in IMD, then use it for installer, uninstaller and inSync client UI.
  2. If language is not passed in IMD. then use auto-locale for installer, uninstaller and inSync client UI. For inSync client UI, user locale will be picked up whenever inSyncAgent process is relaunched. If user locale is not in supported languages, then English will be set as the default language.

Upgrade scenarios

Case 1 :  Upgrade from C-Portal, depends on the previous client language. Client gets installed in the same language as previous client when you perform auto upgrade from admin. For instance: If previous client is in FR, after upgrade new client will be in FR language.

Case 2 :  Manual upgrade- It does not depend on the previous client language. You can select the language while installing manually. For instance: If previous client is in FR, after upgrade new client will be in the language that you have selected while installing.

Case 3 :  IMD upgrade- It does not depend on the previous client language. It picks up the user locale language and installs the client in the user locale language. For instance: If previous client is in EN, after upgrade new client will be in user locale language of the machine and if previous client is in FR/DE, after upgrade new client will be in previous client language i.e. FR/DE.
