Profile Details page

Overview

This topic explains the Profile Details page in-detail.

Summary

The following table describes the fields in the Summary  area:

Field Description
Users The number of users and the maximum number of users that can be associated with a profile. For example, 1 [5] indicates that 1 user is associated with the profile to which  a maximum of 5 users can be associated. 
Devices The number of devices belonging to users associated with a profile.
Total Data The amount of data backed up by users associated with a profile.
Avg. Data Per User

The average data backed up for all users of a profile. For example, 72 MB [Unlimited] indicates that each user backs up an average of 72 MB data.

Note: There are no restrictions on the size of data that each user can back up.

Backup Statistics

The following table describes the fields in the Backup Statistics area:

Field

Description

Backed Up Successfully

The number of devices from which the last backup was successful.

Backup Failed

The number of devices from which the last backup failed.

Backed Up with Errors

The number of devices from which some files were not backed up.

Inactive

The number of devices that did not communicate with the inSync Server for a specific number of days.

Never Backed Up

The number of devices that were never backed up.

Top users by storage consumption

As a graphical representation, the Top users by storage consumption displays the top five users of a profile that backed up the most data.

Details

Profile Summary

The following table describes the fields in the Profile Summary area:

Field Description
Profile Name The name of the profile.
Max. number of users The maximum number of users that can be assigned to the profile. If you do not want any restrictions on the number of users, enter 0 (zero).
Quota per user

The maximum data that any user assigned to the profile can back up or share. If you do not want any restriction on the amount of data the user can back up or share, enter 0 (zero)

Note: Only the data in the backup and share folders of the user devices is used to determine if the user has exceeded quota. If the size of files in the backup and share folders exceed the assigned quota, backups and share from user devices will fail.
Allow users to add laptops

Indicates that users can activate inSync client on their laptops and computers.

Note: inSync Companion App can only be activated by users. Selecting this field implies permission to activate inSync clients only. 
Max. laptops per user
The maximum number of laptops that each user can back up. 
Note: This field appears only when you select Allow users to add devices
Profile description
A short description about the profile.

Laptop Backup Content

The following table describes the fields in the Laptop Backup Content area:

Field Description
Allow users to add folders Indicates that you want users to be able to define the folders from which data will be backed up.
Backup folders

The platform-specific folders on user laptops or desktops that will be backed up. 

Exclude files The file names that will not be backed up from the selected folders.

The following table describes the fields in the Laptop Backup Schedule area:

Field Description
Backup every

The interval between two consecutive automatic backups.

Note:The value in the Backup every field follows the timezone of the inSync server.
Backup between

The time (as per the server time zone) between which automatic backups are run. To eliminate time restrictions on automatic backups, set the same start and end time.

Note: A backup that starts between the Backup between time might continue past the time restriction set depending on the value set in the Backup Every field.
Never backup between

The time (as per the server time zone) between which automatic backups do not run. To eliminate time restrictions on automatic backups, set the same start and end time.

Note: A user-triggered backup is not affected by the Never backup betweensetting. inSync server backs up data even if users trigger a backup during the Never backup between
Backup at logoff/shutdown
Indicates that backups can be triggered when users logoff or shut down their computers.
Note: This option is applicable for inSync clients installed on Windows and Linux computers.
Allow users to change schedule
 

Indicates that users can set their own backup schedule.

Note: Once a user sets a backup schedule, you cannot change it.
Allow users to pause backup Indicates that users can pause backups.
Auto resume paused devices at next backup schedule Indicates a resumption of paused backups following backup schedules.

Laptop Backup Resources

The following table describes the fields in the Laptop Backup Schedule area:

Field Description
Max bandwidth [LAN]

The maximum bandwidth allotted for backups over LAN. The maximum bandwidth can be an absolute value or a percentage of the total available bandwidth.

Note: To allow unlimited bandwidth, enter 0 KBps, 0 MBps, or 0%.
Max bandwidth [WAN]

The maximum bandwidth allotted for backups over WAN. The maximum bandwidth can be an absolute value or a percentage of the total available bandwidth.

Note: To allow unlimited bandwidth, enter 0 KBps, 0 MBps, or 0%.
CPU priority

The CPU priority assigned to backups.

Note: Assigning a higher CPU priority to inSync might affect the performance of other applications.
Allow users to modify resource settings
Indicates that users can modify resource settings. 
Note: You cannot modify the resource settings that the user modifies.
Allow users to edit proxy settings

Indicates that users can modify the proxy settings.

Note: inSync uses the IP address to identify the type of connection (LAN or WAN). You can set the Server IP address as LAN, WAN, or AUTO (from Manage > Settings > Network Settings). If the Server IP address is set to AUTO, connections with time-to-live (TTL) 20 ms or higher are identified as WAN.

Backup Policies

Retention and Access Policies

The following table describes the fields in the Retention and Access Policies area:

Field Description
Retain all backups for The number of days for which you want to retain all backups. At the end of this period, the backup data is deleted from the inSync Server.
For example, if you specify the backup duration as 5 days, backup data that is 5 days old is deleted from inSync server. 
Retain weekly backups for The number of weeks for which you want to retain backups. At the end of this period, the weekly backup is deleted from the inSync Server.
Note: Weekly backup is the last backup on the 7th day after the previous week's backup.
Retain monthly backups for

The number of months for which you want to retain backups. At the end of this period, the monthly backup is deleted from the inSync server.

Note: Monthly backup is the last backup on the 30th day after the previous month's backup.
Allow users to disallow admin access to data

Indicates that users can prevent inSync administrators to restore data from their devices on a server.

Note: Once a user has selected to prevent administrators from accessing data, administrators will not be able to restore data on a server for that user even if you change the Profile settings or move the user to a different Profile.
Allow restore from a Web browser Indicates that users can restore data by accessing their inSync account through a Web browser. If not selected, the Restore tab on the inSync Web interface will be hidden from the users associated with the profile.
Log-in using Indicates whether an inSync Password or an Active Directory will be used to authenticate access to inSync. 
Active directory host IP / FQDN

The IP address or the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) of the server that contains the Active Directory.

Note: This field is displayed when you select Active Directory from Log-in using list.
Active directory port

The port from which the Active Directory is accessed. 

Note: This field is displayed when you select Active Directory from Log-in using list. 
Use secure connection

Indicates that inSync will use LDAP over SSL to access the Active Directory.

Note: This field is displayed when you select Active Directory from Log-in using list.
Ignore system password policy for users

Indicates that inSync will not follow your organization's password policy. 

Notifications and Storage

The following table describes the fields in the Notifications and Storage area:

Field Description
Show inSync icon in system tray Indicates that the inSync icon will be displayed on the system tray of the user’s computers.
Show desktop notifications Indicates that desktop notifications will be displayed for inSync activities. 
Mark device inactive if not backed up for The number of days after which a device that is not backed up, is marked as "Inactive". 
You can set this field to value ranging from 1 to 365.

Mobile Access & Backup

Mobile Access

The following table describes the fields in the Mobile Access area:

Field Description
Allow access from mobile devices Indicates that you want users to access data from the inSync Companion app.
Enforce PIN for mobile access Indicates that the four-digit security code is mandatory for accessing inSync Companion app.

Mobile Backup

The following table describes the fields in the Mobile Backup area:

Field Description
Enable mobile backup

Indicates that data backup and DLP is enabled on users' mobile devices. The additional configuration for this field are:
Optional: Select if you want users to choose to backup and protect data on their mobile devices.
Mandatory: Select if you want to mandate backup and data protection on users' mobile devices.


Note: This field appears after you select Allow access from mobile devices. 
Mandatory content to backup

The platform-specific folders on users' mobile devices marked for mandatory backup. 

NoteThis field appears only when you set Enable mobile backup to Mandatory
Backup every The frequency of scheduled backups from mobile devices.
Use data network if wifi isn't available

Indicates that backups will resume over a data connection if a wireless connection is not detected.

Note: Users might have to pay the mobile service provider charges for the data consumed for the backups.
Allow users to modify content, schedule are resource settings Indicates that users can modify content for backup, backup schedule or resource settings.

DLP

DLP for Laptops

The following table describes the fields in the DLP for Laptops area:

Field Description
Auto delete

Indicates that backup data will be deleted if users devices do not connect to inSync server for a specified number of days. 

Auto delete folders if device does not connect for

Indicates the number of days after which backup data will be deleted if users devices do not connect to inSync server. 

Note: This field is displayed only when you select Auto delete
Alert if device does not connect for

Indicates the number of days after which an alert is triggered if users devices do not connect to inSync server. 

Note: This field is displayed only when you select Auto delete
Device trace
Indicates that the the location of the user's computers will be displayed on the world map in the DLP Overview page. 
Encrypt
Indicates that backup folders are encrypted. 
Select mandatory backup folders for encryption
 

The folders that you want to encrypt. The folders displayed are platform-specific.

Note: This field is displayed only when you select Mandatory Folders from the Encrypt list.

DLP for Mobiles

The following table describes the fields in the DLP for Mobiles area:

Field Description
Remote device deactivation Indicates the status of remote device deactivation. The possible values are Optional, Mandatory, and Disabled. 
Device trace Indicates that the location of the mobile device will be displayed on the world map in the DLP Overview page.
Allow offline access to files (Favorites) Indicates that users can access favorite files in the offline mode. 
Allow access to inSync content on other apps on iOS Indicates that content backed up by inSync can be accessed using other apps on an iOS device. 
Encryption for android Indicates that backup data of android devices will be encrypted.

Share

The following table describes the fields in the Share Settings area:

Field Description
Enable Sharing 

Indicates that sharing is enabled for users associated with the default profile. The inSync Share folder will be created on all their devices.

The number of versions of files residing in inSync Share folder on user computers that you want to retain. 

Note: This field is displayed only when Enable Sharing is selected. 
Allow sharing with profiles
 

Indicates that data sharing between users of specified profiles only.

Note: This field is displayed only when Enable Sharing is selected. 
Allow sharing with guests

Indicates that users can share files with non-inSync users. 

Note: This field is displayed only when Enable Sharing is selected. 
Enable link sharing
 
Indicates that the users associated with a profile can create download links.
Note: This field is displayed only when Enable Sharing is selected.
Mandatory password for links

Indicates that users' shared links must be password protected. 

Note: This field is displayed only when Enable link sharing is selected.
Link expires in

The number of days for which you want the download link to remain active.

Note: This field is displayed only when Enable link Sharing is selected.
