This topic describes the procedure for backing up data from user devices, viewing snapshots of the data backed up, and restoring data to user devices and inSync server.
About backing up and restoring data
As an administrator, you might need to remotely trigger a backup from a user device or stop a backup in progress. You may want to view snapshots of data backed up from a device or you may want to delete snapshots because you do not require them any longer. A snapshot is a “point in time image” of the backup folders and indicates the state of the backup folders at a particular point of time. At times, you may have to restore data to user device if the users do not have the required permissions to it themselves. You may have to restore data to the inSync server in scenarios where the users have not allowed you to download their data. You can stop a restore in progress even if initiated by the user.
