Profile Details page

This topic explains the Profile Details page in-detail.

Summary

The following table describes the fields in the Summary area:

Field Description
Users The number of users associated with the profile and the maximum number of users that can be associated with the profile. For example, 1 [5] indicates that only 1 user oassociated with the profile with which 5 users can be associated.
Devices The number of devices belonging to the users associated with the profile.
Total Data The amount of data backed up by users linked to the profile.
Avg. Data Per User

The average data backed up for all users of a profile. For example, 72 MB [Unlimited] indicates that each user backs up an average of 72 MB data.

Note: There is no restriction on the amount of data that each user can back up.

Backup Statistics

The following table describes the fields in the Backup Statistics area:

Field

Description

Backed Up Successfully

The number of devices from which the last backup was successful.

Backup Failed

The number of devices from which the last backup failed.

Backed Up with Errors

The number of devices from which some files were not backed up.

Inactive

The number of devices that did not communicate with the inSync Server for a specific number of days.

Never Backed Up

The number of devices that were never backed up.

Top users by storage consumption

In a graphical representation, the Top users by storage consumption displays the top five users of a profile that backed up the most data.

The following table describes the fields in the Details area:

Profile Properties

Profile Summary

The following table describes the fields in the Profile Summary area:

Field Description
Profile Name The name of the profile.
Max. number of Users The maximum number of users associated with the profile. Zero (0) indicates no restrictions on the number of users.
Quota per user The maximum data the user assigned to the profile has backed up or shared. Zero (0) indicates unlimited quota. 
Allow users to add devices

This check box allow users to be able to activate inSync client on their other devices.

If not selected, an inSync administrator will have to activate inSync Client on user's computers.

Max. number of devices per user
The number of devices that each user can back up. This field is displayed when you select Allow users to add devices
Profile Description
A short description about the profile.

Laptop Backup Content

The following table describes the fields in the Laptop Backup Content area:

Field Description
Folders The folders backed up across user devices. 
Allow users to add folders
This check box allows users to add folders for backup.
Global Exclusions
The file types that are not backed up. 
Mandatory Folder
This check box allows you to mandate backup of folders listed under Folders.
Optmize for larger number of files
This check box allows you to optimize backups if you expect backup folders to contain more than 10,000 files. This option appears when you select a folder other than Email under Folders.
Include Files The files contained in the backup folder that are backed up. This option appears when you select a folder under Folders
Exclude Files
The files and file types contained in the backup folders that are not backed up. This option appears when you select a folder under Folders
Exclude Paths The path to folders that are not backed up. This option appears when you select a folder under Folders

Laptop Backup Schedule

The following table describes the fields in the Laptop Backup Schedule area:

Field Description
Backup every

The interval between two consecutive automatic backups.

Note: The value in the Backup every field follows the time zone of the inSync server.
Backup between

The time (as per the server time zone) between which automatic backups are run. To eliminate time restrictions on automatic backups, set the same start and end time.

Note: A backup that starts between the Backup between time might continue past the time restriction set depending on the value set in the Backup Every field.
Never backup between

The time (as per the server time zone) between which automatic backups do not run. To eliminate time restrictions on automatic backups, set the same start and end time.

 

Note: A user-triggered backup is not affected by the Never backup between setting. inSync erver backs up data even if users trigger a backup during the Never backup between time.
Backup at logoff/shutdown
This check box allows backups to be triggered when users logoff or shut down their computers.
Note: This option is applicable for inSync clients installed on Windows and Linux computers.
Allow users to change schedule
 

This check box allows users to set their own backup schedule.

Note: Once a user sets a backup schedule, you cannot change it.
Allow users to pause backup This check box allows users to pause backups.
Auto resume paused devices at next backup schedule This check box allows a resumption of paused backups following backup schedules.

Laptop Backup Resources

The following table describes the fields in the Laptop Backup Resources area:

Field Description
Max. Bandwidth [LAN]

The maximum bandwidth allotted for backups over LAN. The maximum bandwidth can be an absolute value or a percentage of the total available bandwidth.

Note: To allow unlimited bandwidth, enter 0 KBps, 0 MBps, or 0%.
Max. Bandwidth [WAN]

The maximum bandwidth allotted for backups over WAN. The maximum bandwidth can be an absolute value or a percentage of the total available bandwidth.

Note: To allow unlimited bandwidth, enter 0 KBps, 0 MBps, or 0%.
CPU priority

The CPU priority assigned to backups.

Note: Assigning a higher CPU priority to inSync might affect the performance of other applications.
Allow users to modify resource settings
This check box allows users to modify resource settings. 
Note: You cannot modify the resource settings that the user modifies.
Note: In inSync, a connection is identified to be over LAN or WAN based on the IP address used for the connection. You can mark the Server IP address or FQDN as LAN, WAN, or AUTO.  If the Server IP address is marked as AUTO then any connection with 20 ms TTL or greater is identified as a WAN-based connection.

Mobile Access and Backup

The following table describes the fields in the Mobile Access and Backup area:

Field Description
Allow access from mobile devices

This check box allows users to access their backed up data from their mobile devices.

Note: Users must install the inSync Companion App to access data from their mobile devices.
Enforce PIN for mobile access 
 

This check box enforces the four-digit PIN for accessing inSync Companion App. 

Enable mobile backup and device deactivation 

This check box allows users to backup data and activate data loss protection (DLP). This field is displayed when you select Allow access from mobile devices. 

Note: If you set this field to "Optional", users can choose to enable DLP.
Mobile apps / folders to backup 
 
This check box ensures a backup of selected folders if backup of mobile devices is mandatory. This field is displayed when you select Allow access from mobile devices. 

Mobile Backup Schedule and Resources

The following table describes the fields in the Mobile Backup Schedule and Resources area:

Field Description
Backup every

The interval between two consecutive automatic backups.

Note: The value in the Backup every field follows the time zone of the inSync server.
Use data network if wifi isn't available
 
 
 
 
 

This check box allows backups over data networks if Wifi is not available. 

Note: Mobile service providers might charge users for data usage. 
Note: By default, data backup over 3G networks for laptops is enabled for your inSync Server. However, you can choose to disable data backup over 3G networks. To know more, see this KB article containing instructions for disabling backup over 3G networks.

Retention and Access Policies

The following table describes the fields in the Retention and Access Policies area:

Field Description
Retain all backups for

The duration for which backups are retained.

Retain all weekly backups for

The duration for which weekly backups are retained. 

Retain all monthly backups for The duration for which monthly backups are retained. 
Allow users to disallow admin access to data

This check box allows users to restrict inSync administrators from restoring their data.

Note: You cannot unselect the Allow users to disallow admin access to data check box.
Allow restore from a Web browser This check box allows restores via inSync Web. 
Use active directory password
This check box allows user access to be authenticated via an active directory. 
Active directory host IP

The IP address or the Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) of the active directory server. This field is displayed when you select Use active directory password.

Active directory port

The port required to access the active directory. This field is displayed when you select Use active directory password.

Note: The default value is 0.
Use secure connection
 
 

This check box enables inSync to access the active directory using Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP). This field is displayed when you select Use active directory password.

 

Ignore system password policy for users
 
 
 
 

This check box enables inSync to overlook the organization-wide password policy.

For example, assume that an organization mandates the use of at least one special character while creating a password. If this check box is selected, inSync allows users to create passwords that do not have the mandatory special character. 

Note: This option is not available if selected Use Active Directory password.

Notifications and Storage

The following table describes the fields in the Notifications and Storage area: 

Field Description
Show inSync icon in system tray

This check box enables the inSync icon to appear in your system's tray. 

Show desktop notifications 

This check box enables desktop notifications for inSync. 

Mark device inactive if not backed up for 

The number of days after which devices not communicating with inSync server are marked as “Inactive”.  This field can contain any value from 1 to 365.

Allow unlimited quota on all storages
This check box allows you to assign one of the available storages to a user. 
Attached Storages
 

The list of available storages against a profile that you can assign to a newly-created user. 

For example, consider storages STRG0100 and STRG0050 having capacity of 100 TB and 50 TB respectively. If you assign 50 TB of STRG0100 and 20 TB of STRG0050 to a profile P, you can assign a slice of STRG0100 or STRG0050 to a new user of profile P. 

DLP for Laptops

The following table describes the fields in the DLP for Laptops area:

Field Description
Auto delete

This check box enables backup folders of user devices that do not connect to inSync server to be deleted. 

Auto delete folders if device does not connect for

This check box displays the number of days after which backup folders from devices not communicating with inSync server are deleted. This field is displayed only if you select Auto delete.

Alert if device does not connect for
This check box enables an alert if devices do not communicate with inSync server for a specific number of days (indicated by the value in this field). This field is displayed only if you select Auto delete.
Device trace
This check box enables trace of user devices on the DLP Overview page. 
Encrypt
This field allows you to choose the folders that you want to encrypt. 
Select mandatory backup folders for encryption
 
This field allows you to choose the mandatory folders that you want to encrypt. This field is displayed only when you select Mandatory Folders for Encrypt.

DLP for Mobiles

The following table describes the fields in the DLP for Mobiles area:

Field Description
Device trace
This check box enables trace of mobile devices on the DLP Overview page. 
Encryption for android
This check box enables encryption of backup folders on Android devices. 

Share

Enable Sharing 

This check box enables Share for users. 

Note: If you select this check box, the inSync Share folder is created for all devices of users attached to a profile. 
# versions of a file to be retained
 
 
This field displays the number of versions of a file residing in inSync Share that inSync server retains. This field is only displayed if you select Enable Sharing
Allow sharing with profiles
 

This field displays those profiles with which users assigned to this profile can share data. This field is only displayed if you select Enable Sharing. 

Enable link sharing
 
This field allows users to create links for data share. This field is only displayed if you select Enable Sharing
Link expires in
This field displays the number of days for which a download link remains active.
