This section contains a list of new features introduced with Druva inSync 5.3.
|Add volume to storages||inSync 5.3 offers greater flexibility of scaling up your storages when demand exceeds capacity.|
|Flexible user-storage mapping||As inSync 5.3 administrators, you now have more control over mapping storages with profiles. On moving the end-users to new storage: |
|Support removed for disk space saving storage||With inSync 5.3, you can only create storages optimized for performance. However, disk space saving storages that were created in the earlier releases will be supported.|
|Auto-configuring proxy support|| |
With inSync 5.3, you can mass-deploy proxy server configuration on inSync clients.
inSync supports HTTP, SOCKS4 and SOCKS5 proxy types. After deployment, inSync client can access inSync server through proxy servers with static IP address as well as through proxy servers whose details are published through a PAC file or a WPAD URL. It also supports authentication at the proxy server, either through a single user ID and password or through active directory credentials of a user.

|Restoring folders to customized paths on mobile devices||With inSync 5.3, you can restore inSync data to the original location or a custom location on the SD card of your mobile device.|
Known issues and workarounds
This section contains a list of known issues for Druva inSync 5.3.
Restore of a folder that contains more than 10000 files initiated either from inSync client or from inSync Admin Console fails. During restore, the inSync interface stops responding.
Workaround: Restore from inSync Web.
Storage becomes unhealthy if the location of database folder is changed.
inSync users cannot restore data over WAN.
Workaround: Restore data over LAN.
If the backup/insync port is changed, the new port number is not visible in the activation email that is sent to the users.Workaround: The inSync administrator must manually edit the template for the activation email to include the modified port number.
Customizations to the Reset Password Email template are not applied.Workaround: None.

Workaround: Select the folders that you want to backup.
Sometimes, the profile details pages are not displayed if a storage is unhealthy. This is a rare occurrence.Workaround: None.
|22439||Multiple versions are backed up for files with .eml extension stored in the inSync Share folder even if no changes are made to them. The issue is caused by Windows Search Service. |
Workaround: Disable Windows Search Service or turn off Windows Indexing on the Windows computers where inSync client is installed.
When you rename or move any folder in inSync Share when it is being synced, an empty folder with the old name is retained in the inSync Share folder.Workaround: Avoid renaming or moving a folder immediately after creating it in the inSync Share folder.
If user data exceeds the quota defined by the administrator, syncing of inSync Share folder fails. However, on the inSync client, the Share status is displayed as Completed.Workaround: None.
French and German versions of Getting started.pdf is not available in the inSync Share folder.Workaround: None.
On Windows 8 computers, a Help icon appears on the task bar instead of the inSync client icon. This is only observed after upgrading inSync client to version 5.3.
On OS X Mavericks, overlay icons in inSync Share are not displayed in the list view.
On OS X Snow Leopard (version 10.6), overlay icons in inSync Share might not get updated.
On Linux and Mac computers, restore for some special files (such as socket and symbolic link) does not complete.Workaround: None.
This section contains a list of issues fixed in version 5.3 (patch 1).
On OS X Mavericks, the share options displayed when a user right-clicked on any file or folder inside the inSync Share folders did not work.
On OS X Mavericks, integrated mass deployment of inSync client was not supported.
This section contains a list of issues fixed in version 5.3.
inSync could not restore files with file paths more than 259 characters.
Only contacts on the SIM card were being backed up from Android devices. Contacts synced from Google account were being ignored.
The revision numbers of the installers for inSync 5.3 Enterprise edition are listed in the following table. The revision number is a part of the installer name. Use the revision number to ensure that you have the correct installer.

If you have an existing installation of inSync Enterprise edition, you can upgrade to inSync 5.3. Use the revision numbers listed in the table to identify if your current installation can be upgraded to inSync 5.3.
Note: You can upgrade from an earlier version of inSync Professional to inSync Enterprise 5.3. However, you cannot upgrade from an earlier version of inSync Enterprise to inSync Professional 5.3.
