Viewing administrator activities

Overview

This topic explains how to view the audit trail of administrator activities.

Note: You must have the license for the Data Analytics add-on to view the administrator audit trail. Contact support@druva.com for the license. 

About administrator audit trail

inSync keeps a record of the following types of administrator activities:

  • Profile related activities such as adding, removing, or modifying a profile.
  • User related activities such as adding or removing a user, resetting the password of a user, and so on.
  • Storage related activities such as creating or deleting a storage, compacting a storage, and so on.
  • Administrator related activities such as adding or removing an administrator, resetting the password for an administrator, and so on.
  • Device related activities such as decommissioning a device, putting a device on hold, and so on.
  • Restore and share related activities such as restoring user data on the server, deleting a share link, and so on.
  • Settings related activities such as modifying email settings, modifying audit trail retention policy, and so on.
  • Other activities that cannot be classified in any of the above categories.

Defining the retention period for administrator audit trail

By default, administrator audit trails are retained for 30 days. However, you can configure the duration for which records of administrator activities will be retained by inSync. 

To configure the retention period for administrator audit trail

  1. On the menu bar, click Manage > Settings.
  2. Click the Analytics tab.
  3. Under Audit Trail Retention Policy, click Edit. The Edit Settings window appears.

  4. From the Retain admin audit trail for list, select the duration for which admin audit trails will be retained. The available options are last 30 days, last 3 months, last 6 months, last 1 year, and forever.
  5. Click Save.

Viewing administrator audit trail

To view the administrator audit trail

  1. On the menu bar, click Analytics.
  2. Click the Admin Audit Trail tab.

List of administrator activities is displayed. You can filter the displayed result based on the activity type, administrator, and the time period. To view more information about the activity, click the arrow next to it.

Downloading administrator audit trail

To download the administrator audit trail

  1. On the menu bar, click Analytics.
  2. Click the Admin Audit Trail tab.
  3. In the Filter By area, select the required activity type, administrator, and time period. List of administrator activities matching the filter criteria is displayed.
  4. Click the appropriate download option:
    • To download the activity list as an HTML file, click Download > Download HTML.
    • To download the activity list as a CSV file, click Download > Download CSV.
