Configuration and Log Files

Overview

The inSync Server log files contain information about inSync Server activities. You can use these log files to analyze and troubleshoot issues that you might encounter when the inSync Server does not behave as expected.

Note: If you need assistance with resolving your issues, share these log files with the Druva Support team.

inSync server log files

This table contains a brief description of the inSync server log files residing at:

  • (Windows) C:\inSyncServer4
  • (Linux) /var/log/inSync
Name Includes
inSyncServer.log Backup and restore requests addressed by inSync Server. This log file also contains details about changed configuration.
inSyncServerConfig.log Initial configuration.
inSyncSharePanel.log Share activities of inSync users when port 443 is used for accessing inSync Web.
inSyncSharePanelHttp.log Share activities of inSync users when port 80 is used for accessing inSync Web.
inSyncSPH.log inSync service entries. For example, entries such as starting inSync services, stopping inSync services, and so on.
inSyncStorage<Storage ID>.log Activities of the storage indicated by the storage ID. Use this log file for troubleshooting issues that you might encounter while working with this storage.
bynamo<Storage ID>.log Activities of the storage indicated by the storage ID. Use this log file for troubleshooting issues that you might encounter while working with this storage.
inSyncCompact<Storage ID>.log Activities of the storage indicated by the storage ID. Use this log file for troubleshooting issues that you might encounter while working with this storage.
inSyncWebPanel.log inSync Admin Console activities.
sharedb.log Share database activities. 

inSync configuration files

Note: Ideally, you should not modify the configuration files. In rare scenarios where you must modify these configuration files, contact the Druva Support team if you need assistance.

The inSync server configuration file is available at the following locations:

  • Windows: C:\inSyncServer4\inSyncServer.cfg
  • Linux: /etc/inSyncServer/inSyncServer.cfg

inSync services and processes

Note: Stopping the inSync Services pauses all synchronization and restore operations.

inSync Services for Windows

This following table describes the inSync services that run on a Windows computer.

Name Description
Druva inSync Server inSync Server service
Druva inSync Server Share Server inSync share service
Druva inSync Server Control Panel inSync Control Panel service

inSync processes for Linux

This following table describes the inSync processes that run on a Linux computer.

Name Location on inSync server Description
inSyncSrv /etc/init.d/inSyncSrv Controls inSync server. It also controls the inSyncShareServer and inSyncControlPanel processes.
