Enabling backup from mobile devices

As an administrator, you can allow users to backup data from their iOS and Android devices. Backups from Windows devices are not possible because of limitations of the platform. 

When enabling backup from mobile devices, you have two options:

  • Make it optional for users to backup data from mobile devices. In this case users can choose whether they want to backup their mobile device and the content they want to backup after they install and activate the inSync app.
  • Make it mandatory to backup data from mobile devices. In this case, data from the mandatory folders defined by you will be backed up if the user installs and activates the inSync app.
Note: This functionality is managed through profiles and not at an individual user level.

Procedure

To enable backup from mobile devices

  1. On the menu bar, click Manage > Profiles.
  2. Click the profile you want to modify.
  3. Under the Mobile Access & Backup tab, under Mobile Backup, click Edit. The Edit Profile window appears.
  4. Select Enable mobile backup.
    • To allow users to choose if they want to backup data from their mobile devices, select Optional from the adjacent list.

    • To make it mandatory for users to backup data from their mobile devices, select Mandatory from the adjacent list.

  5. Click Save.

Disabling backup from mobile devices

To disable backup from mobile devices

  1. On the menu bar, click Manage > Profiles.
  2. Click the profile you want to modify.
  3. Under the Mobile Access & Backup tab > under Mobile Backup, click Edit. The Edit Profile window appears.
  4. Clear Enable mobile backup.
  5. Click Save.
