Prerequisites for installing inSync server

Overview

This topic explains the software, hardware, and other prerequisites for installing the inSync server.

Hardware prerequisites

The hardware required for installing inSync server is listed in this table. 

Hardware Minimum Requirement
CPU Clock speed: 2 x 1.5 GHz or greater
RAM 8 GB or greater
Disk space 200 MB for installation

Software prerequisites

The software required for installing inSync server is listed in this table.

Flash Pllayer Adobe Flash Player 11 and later (must be installed on the browser from which you plan to access inSync Admin Console)

Other prerequisites

Other requirements for installing inSync server are as follows.

Requirement Description
Open port numbers

By default, inSync master server uses the following two ports:

  • Web UI port: This port is required to access the inSync Admin Console and for Web restores. By default, port 443 is used for this purpose. 
  • Backup port: This port is required for backups and for communication with the storage nodes. By default port 6065 is used for this purpose.

Either keep the default ports open or use two open ports exclusively for inSync.

IP address or FQDN If you want to allow inSync users to backup and restore data over WAN, decide on the WAN IP address or FQDN that they can use. The IP address can be configured through the inSync Admin Console.
