Configuring user data privacy policy

Understanding user data privacy policy

By default, administrators can access data for all users across your organization. However, inSync does provide you the options for configuring data access permissions. As an inSync administrator, you can:

  • Prevent all administrators (including yourself) from accessing user data.
  • Allow users to choose if they want their data to be accessed by administrators.

Both functionalities are controlled through profile settings by the following two fields:

  • Allow admin access to user data: If selected, administrators can download users' backup and share data. If cleared, the administrator can not access the data unless users explicitly give them permission.
  • Allow users to edit privacy settings: If selected, users can see the Privacy tab on inSync client from which they can choose to allow administrators to access their data. If cleared, the users will not be able to see the Privacy tab and thus, modfiy privacy settings.
