What's new in 5.3.1?

Druva is excited to announce the release of inSync Private Cloud 5.3.1. With petabyte-scalability and multi-tenancy, inSync Private Cloud 5.3.1 is ideal for managed service providers (MSPs) and the largest enterprises. Additional administration, governance and usability enhancements make inSync compelling for you and your end users.

Future-proof scale-out storage
  • Storage pooling enables you to scale your inSync Private Cloud easily by creating logical pools of storage. To scale, simply add more storage to the pool. inSync automatically balances user data across all storage within a pool, so you don’t need to manually map users to new storage.
  • Integration with Object Storage such as OpenStack Swift provides you cost benefits along with scalability and durability at petabyte scale.
  • Multi-volume storage allows you to scale a storage unit on demand by simply adding volumes.
  • Flexible user-storage mapping allows you to easily re-map users from one storage to another when users move across geographic regions.
Multi-Tenancy for managing multiple organizations
  • Organization portal enables MSPs or large enterprises to efficiently configure and monitor multiple customer or business unit deployments in a multi-tenant private cloud instance.
Deeper IT Governance and Advanced Security
  • Legal hold allows you to preserve custodian data for ediscovery, with a single click.
  • New audit trails offer you granular details of admin and user activities with configurable retention policies.
  • Advanced BYOD policies enable you to prevent third party apps from accessing any data within the inSync container on end users’ mobile devices.
  • Data privacy policies permit you to enable or disable admin access to user data depending on your organizational requirements.
  • Network blacklisting allows you to prevent data transfers over specified data networks such as a certain 3g network.
  • inSync Edge Server lets you keep all inbound firewall ports closed for added security in the client-server communication across WAN networks.
Efficient Administration
  • Device specific profiles let you to configure backup policies individually for different OS platforms within the same profile.
  • Deeper AD integration gives you Global Catalog and Domain Controller access, along with new options for wizard-based or manual specification of Base DN to fast-track user import in multi-domain forest environments. Periodic AD sync automatically provisions and deprovisions users.
  • Advanced user information and end-user logs give you insight into initial deployment as well as inSync client activity.
  • Enhanced Persona backup configuration allows you to select specific settings for backup during OS migration or device refresh.
Rich End-User Experience
  • The New inSync client UI is highly intuitive and allows end users to easily configure preferences and monitor status.
  • Real-time file sharing sync status in the inSync client provides end users with real-time progress of files that are syncing.
  • Drag and drop feature allows end users to upload files on inSync Web for quick syncing and sharing.
  • Continuous performance enhancements include deduplication updates to save bandwidth by transferring 70% less incremental data than competing solutions and a 5x increase in the number of concurrent connections with a node.
  • WAN optimization enhancements further improve client backup performance with efficient bandwidth utilization and real-time bandwidth throttling.
  • Extended platform support ensures that the inSync client is compatible with OS X Mavericks (version 10.9), Windows 8.1, and new versions of Linux distributions.
Bi-directional file sharing with external users
  • New guest accounts enable external users to collaborate on shared folders with view only, or edit and upload permissions directly from inSync Web without any client downloads.
  • Enhanced user activity stream offers you visibility into external collaboration activities.
  • Password-protected shared links enable you to enforce secure external sharing.
