This topic explains the types of inSync alerts and contains instructions on how to view active alerts and how to modify the subscriber list for alerts.
Types of inSync alerts
inSync has the following types of alerts:
|Antivirus Activity Detected||This alert indicates that the inSync folders are yet to be added to the exclude list. |
Antivirus scans on the inSync installation folders and the storage folders can corrupt the data that is being backed up by inSync. Therefore, you must add the folders to the exclude list of the antivirus software that your organization uses.
|Backup Success||This alert indicates that the backup is successful.|
Checkpoint process is slow
This alert is sent if the database checkpoint process for storages that are optimized for performance get slower than the rate at which data is being sent to it for backup by the inSync clients. In such cases, the inSync server stops all new requests for backups and compaction until this situation becomes normal. If the situation becomes critical, it may even stop the existing backup and compaction processes.
Note: This issue is observed if sub-optimal hardware is used for creating storage.
|Compaction Completed||This alert indicates that compaction of a storage is complete.|
|DLP Autodelete Warning|| |
This alert indicates that data from a device will be deleted after one day.
inSync can be configured to automatically delete data from the devices that do not connect with the inSync server for a specific period.
|Initiating DLP Autodelete NOW||This alert indicates that autodelete of data from a device is about to start.|
|License Expiry||This alert Indicates that inSync license is about to expire.|
|Low Database Storage Available||This alert indicates that data in the database folder of a storage has exceeded the threshold.|
|Low Free Space Available||This alert indicates that data on a storage has exceeded the threshold.|
|Low User Storage Available||This alert indicates that a user is about to exhaust the allocated user quota.|
|Misconfigured Backup Folder|| |
This alert indicates that the folder that the administrator configured does not exist on the user's device.
The administrator can define folders that will mandatorily be backed up from user devices.
|Restore Status||This alert indicates that a restore was successful.|
|Storage Error||This alert indicates that inSync was unable to read or write data on a storage.|
|User Backup Inactivity||This alert indicates that data has not been backed up from a device for a specified number of days.|
Viewing active alerts
Alerts sent out by inSync are visible in the Active Alerts list. The alerts are retained in the list till the issue is resolved.
You can view the list of alerts sent by inSync as follows: on the menu bar, click Reporting > Alerts.
The list of all alerts sent by inSync is displayed under the Active Alerts tab. You can filter the alerts based on the alert type.
Modifying the subscriber list for alerts
inSync sends alert notifications only to its subscribers. You can configure inSync to send specific alert notification to specific administrators and users.
To modify the subscribers for an alert
- On the menu bar, click Reporting > Alerts.
- Under the Alert Subscriptions tab, select the alert for which you want to modify the subscribers and then click Edit. The Edit Alert Notifications window appears.
- In the Admins to be notified field, select the administrators who should receive the alerts.
- If required, check Notify user checkbox if you want the affected administrators or users to receive this alert.
- Click Save.
