Locating a device

Note: You can locate only those devices for which device trace has been activated.

To locate a device

  1. On the menu bar, click Manage > Devices.
  2. Select the device that you want to locate.
  3. Under the DLP Summary tab, click the world map.

The location of the device is indicated on the world map. You can expand the map to view the exact location of the device.

Note: inSync uses WiFi access points near a device and GPS satellites to locate a device. The device trace is accurate up to 10-20 meters of the device. If neither GPS or WiFi can be used to trace a device, inSync uses the devices IP address to determine its location.
