Download Exchange Online data

Overview 

As an inSync Cloud administrator, you can download the Exchange Online backed up data using the inSync Management Console. Additionally, inSync users can use the inSync Web to download the Exchange Online backed up data.

Note: 

  • inSync administrator can view the snapshots of Exchange Online devices in UTC time zone. 

You can download the entire mailbox as a zipped folder (containing .emls) or mails from the web by selecting either 3 months or 6 months or customizing the date range. You can download only the zipped top-level folders of contacts and calendar from the Exchange Online data. 

Druva inSync also allows you to do selective downloads for emails, contacts, and calendar. You can also use search to easily find files or emails and then download them.

Download Emails

Use the following procedure to download emails.

Procedure

  1. On the inSync Management Console menu bar, click Users
  2. On the Manage Users page, click the username of the user whose data you want to download and click  Restore > Restore backup data.
  3. On the Restore Data window, under Data Sources select Exchange Online to view its snapshots and backed up data. 
  4. Do one of the following: 
    • To download emails backed up within a specific period, select Mails and click Download. On the Download window, provide the following details:
      Field Action
      Time Period From the drop-down list, select the duration for which you want to download emails. Select Custom to specify a particular date range.
    • To download individual mailbox folders or individual emails 
      1. Click Mails and browse the mailbox. 
      2. Select the mailbox folders or emails that you want to download and click Download. Alternatively, you can also use Search to search for emails that you want to download. Click the email to view its details like sender, receiver, attachments and so on.  
  5. Click Ok.  The table lists the file name conventions that inSync uses for email downloads. 
    Type Filename 
    Entire mailbox, Mailbox folder <username>.zip
    Individual email <email subject>.eml

Download Contacts

Use the following procedure to download contacts.

Procedure

  1. On the inSync Management Console menu bar, click Users.
  2. On the Manage Users page, click the username of the user whose data you want to download and click  Restore > Restore backup data.
  3. On the Restore Data window, under Data Sources select Exchange Online to view its snapshots and backed up data. 
  4. Do one of the following:
    • To download all contacts, select Contacts and click Download. 
    • To download a contact group or an individual contact, click Contacts and browse the contact or contact group that you want to download and click Download
  5. Click Ok. The table lists the file name conventions that inSync uses for contacts downloads.
    Type Filename 
    All contacts, Contact group <username>.zip
    Individual contact <contact name>.vcf

Download Calendar

Use the following procedure to download calendar.

Procedure

  1. On the inSync Management Console menu bar, click Users.
  2. On the Manage Users page, click the username of the user whose data you want to download and click  Restore > Restore backup data.
  3. On the Restore Data window, under Data Sources select Exchange Online to view its snapshots and backed up data. 
  4. Do one of the following: 
    • To download the entire calendar, select Calendar and click Download.
  5. Click Ok. The table lists the file name conventions that inSync uses for calendar downloads.  
    Type Filename
    Entire calendar <username>.zip

Within the downloaded zip file,  there are .ics files corresponding to each calendar event.

Note:  

  • Attachments within calendar events are downloaded as regular calendar events. You can view the  attachments for  respective calendar events in user's Outlook  account via Outlook client or Outlook web application.

Download notes

Use the following procedure to download notes.

Procedure

  1. On the inSync Management Console menu bar, click Users.
  2. Click the username of the user whose data you want to download and click  Restore > Restore backup data.
  3. On the Restore Data window, under Data Sources select Exchange Online to view its snapshots and backed up data.
  4. To download notes, select Mails > Notes 
  5. Do one of the following:
    • To download the entire notes folder, select Notes and click Download. 
    • To download an individual note, click Notes. Browse and select the required note that you want to download and click Download.  
  6. Click Ok. The table lists the file name conventions that inSync uses for notes downloads.
    Type Filename 
    Entire notes folder, Individual note <username>.zip

Download tasks

Use the following procedure to download tasks.

Procedure

  1. On the inSync Management Console menu bar, click Users.
  2. Click the username of the user whose data you want to download and click  Restore > Restore backup data.
  3. On the Restore Data window, under Data Sources select Exchange Online to view its snapshots and backed up data. 
  4. Do one of the following:
    • To download an individual or multiple task folders, select Tasks and click Download. 
  5. Click Ok. The table lists the file name conventions that inSync uses for tasks downloads.
    Type Filename 
    Individual or multiple task folders <username>.zip
