Overview

Druva inSync can be configured to protect the data of the following Microsoft 365 applications:

  • Exchange Online
  • OneDrive
  • SharePoint Online
  • Teams

Benefits of using Druva inSync to protect Microsoft 365 apps

Druva inSync offers the following benefits while protecting the Microsoft 365 app data:

  • Single access point to view and manage end-user data, without manually accessing separate data sources. 
  • Automatically scan the data for compliance violations, thereby reducing the amount of time that IT personnel spend manually collecting and managing data.
  • Enable administrators to search and locate any file across all Microsoft 365 app data.
  • Proactively track, monitor, and get notified for compliance risks of Microsoft 365 app data in your organization.

Supported Microsoft 365 editions

Druva inSync supports the following Microsoft 365editions:

  • Business
  • Enterprise
    • E1

Data backed up by Druva inSync for Microsoft 365 apps

Druva inSync protects Exchange Online, OneDrive, and SharePoint Online data.

Exchange Online

The following data is backed up for Exchange Online app:

  • Mailbox (for the individual user and shared)
  • Contacts
  • Calendar events
  • Emails with attachments
  • Archived emails with attachments
  • Notes: Entire notes folder within the Exchange Online server mailbox of a user
  • Tasks within the Exchange Online server mailbox of a user

       Within your tasks folder, you can back up the following:

  • All tasks folders' data irrespective of their status or categorization such as Active, Overdue, Complete.
  • Messages that are flagged as important
  • Task attributes such as start and due date, status, subject, priority, and reminder
  • Attachments associated with the tasks such as OneDrive, Group Files, Links, Outlook attachments, and files uploaded from a device.

 

Recoverable Items folders:

  • Deletions
  • Purges

OneDrive

The following data is backed up for OneDrive app:

  • User's private files and folders

  • Metadata attributes

SharePoint Online

The following data is backed up for SharePoint Online app:

  • Team sites (Microsoft 365 Groups, and Team’s hidden sites)
  • Classic sites

Within a site, Druva inSync backs up the following:

• Subsites

• Document Libraries

• Lists

• Templates

• Assets

• Pages

• Metadata associated with site collections, sites, libraries, list, templates, assets, folders, files, and permissions.

Teams

The following data is backed up for the Teams app:

  1. Teams

    • Team Unique ID

    • Name of the Team

    • Creation date time and stamp 

    • Permissions assigned to all Team members

    • Permissions assigned to all guests

    • Count of Team Members

    • Count of  external guests

    • Count of Team Channels

    • All Teams Settings

  2. Teams Site Collection

    • Site Collection details

    • Data and metadata parameters for a site collection

  3. Teams content

 Now, let’s take a look at the data that inSync backs up in the Team Standard channels and Team Private channels:

Data in Team Standard channels:

  • Files

  • OneNote Files - One Note files are backed up as a folder (with the name of the OneNote file) under Files.

  • Wiki data which includes pages and parameters within the wiki

  • Conversations in channel
    Channel Email address(Alias) - All the mails sent and received in a channel with all attachments and properties (including user details) provided by the Microsoft APIs.
    All messages sent and received with their attachments with other properties (including user details) provided by Microsoft APIs.

  • All tabs created and associated with a Team channel

 Data in Team Private channels:

  • Conversations in channel
    Channel Email address(Alias)-All the mails sent and received in a channel with all attachments and properties (including user details) provided by the Microsoft APIs.
    All messages sent and received with their attachments with other properties (including user details) provided by Microsoft APIs.

Due to Microsoft API limitation, there is no mapping for Private Channels within Teams and the SharePoint site.  Consequently, FIles and Wiki data within the Private Channels cannot be backed up and restored in Teams. You can restore Files and Wiki data within the Private Channels from the corresponding associated SharePoint site.

Note: inSync user can download data from inSync Web only.

Exchange Online

 

Note: inSync user can download data from inSync Web only.

Sharepoint Online

Note: inSync admin can do in-place restore as well as restore as a copy for a site collection

Note: inSync user cannot download any data.

*Enterprise Search does not support deletion of emails and files for Cloud Apps data.

*Enterprise Search is not supported for Tasks.

*Enterprise Search feature availability may be limited based on the license type, region, and other criteria. To access this feature, contact your Druva Account Manager or Druva Support.  For more information, see Enterprise Search backed up data to restore.

**Administrators cannot delete, resolve, or quarantine the violations. Druva inSync for Cloud Apps only supports scanning of data to proactively track, monitor, and get notified for data compliance risks.
