View the details of backup and restore activities of Objects and Metadata

Overview

As a Salesforce admin, you can get a more detailed insight and view about the state of Objects (Records) and Metadata for each backup and restore activity using the new Activity Details page.  This view will help you restore data in case of accidental deletion and ensure business continuity.

You can see the following details:

  • Summary of the backup and restore activity
  • Actual count of the number of new, updated, and deleted Objects (Records) and Files along with their backup status
  • Actual count of the number of new, updated, and deleted Metadata (Component) and their backup status
  • Actual count of the number of failed and successful Objects (Records) and their restore status
  • Actual count of the number of failed and successful Objects Metadata (Component) and their restore status

Activity Details page

Provides a summary and detailed view of backup and restore activities of all the Salesforce Objects, Records, Files, Metadata, and Components.

Access Path

On the Salesforce console, click the Druva inSync app. The Dashboard page is displayed.  You can access the Activity Details page from any of the following:

  • Dashboard: Click on the Last Backup Status to view the activity details for that activity
  • Recent Activity: Click on the Status to view the activity details for that activity
  • Activity Stream: Click on the Status to view the activity details for that activity

Backup activity details

Use the Activity Details page to get a granular view of new, updated, and deleted backed up Objects and Metadata.

Summary tab

The following table lists the fields in the Summary tab.

Field Description
Activity Summary
Activity Type

Details of the type of backup activity performed.

  • Manual Backup
  • Scheduled Backup
Completed On Date and time when the backup activity completed.
Status

Status of the backup activity performed. 

  • Backed up Successfully: If the complete data is backed up successfully.
  • Partially Backed up: If the backup of some part of the data is successful. This status is displayed if there is any partial or failed backup activity for any Object or Metadata. 
  • Backup Failed: If the complete data backup activity fails.
  • Backup Failed due to API Quota: If the data backup fails due to API Quota error.
  • Backup Canceled by Administrator: If an administrator aborts or cancels an ongoing backup activity.

API Usage Details of APIs consumed in the last completed backup activity.
Backup Detail
Total Total number of Objects, Records, Files, Metadata, Components that were backed up.
New  The count of newly added Objects, Records, Files, Metadata, Components after the last completed successful backup.
Updated  The count of newly updated Objects, Records, Files, Metadata, Components after the last completed successful backup.
Deleted  The count of deleted Objects, Records, Files, Metadata, Components.
Failed The count of Objects, Records, Metadata, Components for which the backup failed.
Action
Download Log Click Download Log to download and view the backup activity logs.

Objects tab

The following table lists the fields in the Objects tab.

Field Description
Search by object Type in the name of the specific object for which you want to view the backup activity details and press enter.
Objects (Records)

Displays a list of all the Object's API name and the total number of records' count in brackets that get backed up for that object.

  • Newly added Objects are displayed with    icon.
  • Updated Objects are displayed with    icon.
  • Deleted Objects are displayed with    icon.
New (Count)

Displays the count of new records.

Updated (Count)

Displays the count of updated records.

Deleted (Count)

Displays the count of deleted records.

Click on the link to download the record IDs of the deleted objects in CSV format.

Backup Status

The backup status of each Object (Record).

By default,  the view of Backup Status is displayed as mentioned in the hierarchy below:

  • Failed: If the data backup activity fails.
  • Partial: If some part of the data is backed up successfully.
  • Successful: If the complete data backup activity is successful.
  • Excluded: If data is excluded for backup activity.
  • NA

Use the sorting option at the top right corner of Backup Status to change the view of status to alphabetical order in ascending or descending listing. For example: If the sorting selection is ascending, it will be displayed as follows:

  • Excluded
  • Failed
  • NA
  • Partial
  • Successful

Click on the status to view and know about the error details in case of failed and partially failed backups.

Note: NA status is displayed  for deleted  Objects (Records).

Filter the activity details view as per your requirement. You can filter using the following options:

  • All Objects: To view the backup activity details for all the Objects.
  • New Objects: To view the backup activity details of only newly added Objects. 
  • Updated Objects: To view the backup activity details of only updated or modified Objects.
  • Deleted Objects: To view the backup activity of all the deleted Objects.

Download Log Click Download Log to download and view the backup activity logs.

Metadata tab

The following table lists the fields in the Metadata tab.

Field Description
Search by Metadata Type in the name of the specific Metadata for which you want to view the backup activity details and press enter.
Metadata (Component) Displays a list of all the Metadata (Component) by default.
New (Count) Displays the count of new components
Updated (Count) Displays the count of updated components.
Deleted (Count) Displays the count of the deleted components.
Backup Status

The backup status of each Metadata (Component).

By default,  the view of Backup Status is displayed as mentioned in the hierarchy below:

  • Failed: If the data backup activity fails.
  • Partial: If some part of the data is backed up successfully.
  • Successful: If the complete data backup activity is successful.
  • Excluded: If data is excluded for backup activity.
  • NA

Restore activity details

Use the Activity Details page to get a granular view of successful and failed restored Objects and Metadata.

The following table lists the fields in the Summary tab.

Field Description
Activity Summary
Activity Type

Details of the type of activity performed

  • Bulk Restore
  • CSV Restore
  • Comparison Restore
  • Cross Org Restore
Status

Status of the restore activity performed. 

  • Restore Successful: If the restore of complete data is successful.
  • Partially Restored: If some part of the data restore is successful. This status is displayed if there is any partial or failed restore activity for any Object or Metadata.
  • Restore Failed: If the restore of complete data fails.
  • Restore Canceled by Administrator: If an administrator aborts or cancels an ongoing restore activity.
API Usage Details of API used.
Total Objects The total count of restored Objects.
Destination Org Name The location where the Objects and Metadata were restored.
Overwrite Existing data Displays Enabled or Disabled based on the option selected.
Restore Deleted Child Records Displays Enabled or Disabled based on the option selected.
Total Metadata The total count of restored Metadata.
Action
Download Log Click Download Log to download and view the restore activity logs.

Objects tab

The following table lists the fields in the Objects tab.

Field Description
Search by object Type in the name of the specific object for which you want to view the restore activity details and press enter.
Objects (Records) Displays a list of all the Objects (Records) by default.
Success (Count) The count of successfully restored records.
Failed (Count) The count of records for which restore failed.
Restore Status

  • Failed: If the data restore activity fails.
  • Partial: If some part of the data is restored successfully.

Click Download Log to download and view the activity logs.

Note:  Activity log displays the record ID s with details  for the records  for which restore failed.

Metadata tab

The following table lists the fields in the Metadata tab.

Field Description
Search by metadata Type in the name of the specific Metadata for which you want to view the restore activity details and press enter.
Metadata (Component) Displays a list of all the Metadata (Component) by default.
Success (Count) The count of successfully restored components
Failed (Count) The count of failed restored components.

Restore Status

The restore status of each Metadata (Component). 

By default,  the view of Restore Status is displayed as mentioned in the hierarchy below:

  • Failed: If the data restore activity fails.
  • Partial: If some part of the data is restored successfully.
  • Successful: If the complete data restore activity is successful.
  • Excluded: If data is excluded for restore activity.

Activity Stream

You can cancel any ongoing backup and restore activity.  To cancel an activity, click the Cancel.png icon and then click Yes on the confirmation pop-up that appears. The status of the activity changes to Backup Canceled by Administrator. For more details, see Activity Stream.
